I have a few afternoons scheduled for World Showcase touring, and since last year I was pre-occupied with the Food and Wine Festival, LOL, I missed a lot of the live entertainment.

So if I could get some opinions on things that are must-sees or worth seeing, and also, what are some of the better, and / or more reasonable shops in the World Showcase?

Let's see, I always go watch the Chinese acrobats, the Japanese drummers, and I like to watch the "statues" over at France.

:bitelip:

Japanese Drummers and "Ye Olde Players" in the UK are the two I can think of. There was an Irish band there when we went last month, but I don't know if that is only during the F&WF :confused3 . I think the band's name is Off Kilter, but not positive on the name.

In Japan (or China - sorry I can't remember which) they have someone making candy suckers. They shape the soft candy into these amazing animals - pretty much whatever you want. Even if you don't get the candy, you can watch. It is such and art!

We always stop and get bread or a pastry in France.

We loved British Invasion, a Beetles cover band, in the UK. We thought it was a great performance! On our next trip we are hoping to catch Off Kilter in Canada. I have heard so many positive things about them. Have you checked out Steve Soares' web site yet? It might help.

Good luck! :daisy:

Off Kilter (rock with bagpipes) in Canada and The British Invasion (a Beatles cover band) in England.

Sadly, the Living Statues are gone. :( Along with so many of the good entertainments WS has had over the years.

I enjoy Off Kilter and the British Invasion.

Steve's site, mentioned above, is the greatest when it comes to current entertainment at WDW.

The statues are gone too ??? First the Kristos, now the statues, what next??? :sad2:

I like Mo'Rockin...we missed them when we were there last week. They were scheduled but we waited and they didn't show up!

Character Masquerade. Le Mime Roland. Tapestry of Nations/Dreams. The Aviators. Ones I can think of that I have enjoyed in the past.

Another vote for Off Kilter. We'll be seeing them (hopefully) all day Thanksgiving. Also enjoy (from a distance - never really have taken the time to see their whole set) the British Invasion. The husband likes Mo' Rockin. I use the time to go through the shops - they have some nice things that are decently priced. Also the Japanese drummers. The storytellers at the Outpost are really good if you happen to catch them. The marachi band in Mexico is also pretty good.

We enjoyed the Chinese acrobats too, plus the American Adventure had the "American Spirit Fife & Drum". :thumbsup2

Another vote for the World Showcase Players in UK. They have a regular show and a special Christmas show. Both are VERY funny!

Oh, no! The Kristos are gone? How sad! I knew about the statues, they were gone already on our last trip Oct 2005, but the Kristos :( I was looking forward to seeing them because we missed them last trip.

I like to grab a glass of champagne and sit on a bench and watch all of YOU walk on by . A lot of you make me laugh with how you dress, how you fight, how you block everyones path when you stop dead in the middle of the sidewalk to figure out what your doing and so on!!!!!

:rotfl:

We got to see a few minutes of both British Invasion and Off Kilter. Very nice!

We enjoyed the "Japanese Candy Lady" - she was amazing ... then we went right into the store in Japan and picked a pearl. OK, I picked a pearl but DH was suppportive! Mine was 7MM, pink (undeserving of a gong) but I had it set in a beautiful white gold ring. Very pretty and fun to do! Also got to see the Japanese drummers. We were just all over Japan this visit! Then we had dinner in Canada ... whew I feel so tired! :teeth:

Hands down, Off Kilter in Canada. We enjoyed their performance so much, we bought their "Live" album... and now are kicking ourselves for not having bought EACH of their albums! If you want to hear a sample of their stuff, you can use their website http://www.offkilter.net

The japanese drummers are also really good too!

Enjoy the Magic, there's plenty to be had in World Showcase!

I can't believe no one has mentioned the Voices of Liberty, who sing in the Atrium of the American Adventure. They are a wonderful a capella group (and the American Adventure show is wonderfully moving and patriotic as well)! :teeth:
