World Passport/concierge collections?

I stayed at the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, NC a couple of years ago using the Concierge Collection and had a great time! It's as easy to use as RCI, but you have to call MS to book and pay the $95 fee. The places in the CC are very popular, so when you decide to go, call to see what dates are available and book it then. Calling back even a day or two later may mean that the dates you wanted are no longer available(I've had that happen more than once). The only thing to keep in mind is that you can't book the CC until the contracts are signed for the new year. Sometimes this doesn't happen until January/February of that year. I've looked into staying at Mandarin Oriental, Grand Wailea in Maui, and Hotel del Coronado but they keep getting bumped in favor of other trips.

DW and I have done seven DCLs (six using all or some points), the Doral in Miami (played the Blue Monster) and the Grove Park Inn (GPI)(different view from the top of the mountain) in Asheville, NC.
DCLs loved them and have the next DCL booked for next year.
Doral would like to do it again, but will have to wait until after the next year's DCL.
GPI - Went to HH for a couple of days, then to GPI, and then back to HH on the way back home.

We stayed at Mandarin Oriental in DC in April and it was great. The room was quiet and spacious, great location, and easy to book. There are no restaurants close by, but you are within a 5 min walk to two major subway stops that cover most lines. There were also plenty of taxis outside the hotel if that's your thing. I'd stay there again!

Thanks for the info. I am cutting back on Disney over the next few years and looking at my other options. Wish they had a hotel in Paris. (DLP is too far out of town)

I used venere.com when I went in 2008. They have a decent map that breaks up the districts. I found a "cheap" 150e/night 2 blocks from the Louvre. This building was so old the marble staircase caused the floor to have a visible slant. Buy far the best vacation of my life :-)
