Hello everyone,

I am just about a day away from signing the contract for BCV. We went to WDW and decided to buy on the spot.
My question is about the World Passport Collection and how I would find out about the available locations, minimum number of nights and points required for any particular resort. I am joining the DVC family because of the flexibility of staying at WDW as well as off site resorts around the country.
Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Joey G

While it's nice to have options, the II trades (World Passport Collection) leave a lot to be desired. DVC will give you the current list as part of you're membership package. They have taken essentially the top Interval International resorts outside Orlando which they offere as POSSIBLE exchanges. This is the traditional full week program. It is also an uncertain option where you may be waiting for up to a few months or even less before you know if you're successful getting what you want. Couple that with the idea that even for many of the top II resorts, trading DVC is to trade down in quality. The list is also on the Web Site. More info about the individual resorts can be found at Timeshare Users Group (TUG) where there is a modest $15 fee for one year and $10 for each year thereafter.

Then there's the idea that you could get a timeshare for much less to trade that would trade just as well as DVC without all the restrictions and offer you all of the 1800 II resorts in their system. The advantages of the DVC system are for those that want to use the DVC resorts and possibly those that rarely want to look at other options. All of the extras come at a fairly to very high price. As for the World Passport Collection, the main advantages in using DVC for exchanges are that there is no yearly fee for II, very good trading power (but not beyond all else) and search first option. To me the high cost and disadvantages outweigh the advantages. For someone that wants to use it rarely and doesn't own other timeshares, that may not be the case.
