World of Old Fashioned Tasting

We are going on the Treasure in a couple weeks. My husband wants to try this tasting but I don’t know if it is worth it. For the two of us it would be $200. Should we just spend that money on good old fashioned drinks on our own? Has anyone done this tasting?

"Worth it" is going to be subjective. I've not done this tasting but have done other tastings. If you're truly looking to taste different old fashioneds and have someone 'guide' you through it, it's probably worth it. If you'd rather just order an old fashioned the way you like it and drink it whenever/wherever you want, then I'd skip it.

That's exactly what we did. We skipped the tasting and just 'tasted' old fashions in various settings. $100 for a tasting is not justifiable, to me.

My wife and I felt that the Reserve Whiskey Tasting on the Wish was worth the $100 per person, based on the pours and the overall experience due to the CM who gave the tasting.

With that being said, for $100 per person for an Old Fashioned tasting, I would rather make a couple of trips to Hooks and just let the CM there surprise me.

I've done this tasting twice and felt it was worth it. For context, Old Fashioneds are my favorite drink and what I usually order at a nice restaurant. The spirits they use in the tasting are very high quality and flavors ate interesting and creative. At both I've done we received 4 different Old Fashioneds, and while they weren't full size they were definitely generous. If you know you enjoy Old Fashioneds I'd definitely say it's worth the $100 per person.

The tastings are not really just about what he drinks, it is more of a learning experience where the bartender shares information about old fashioneds. So I wouldn’t say it is worth it if that aspect doesn’t appeal. On the other hand, we ordered individual old fashioneds at hooks and they ran from $30-60 each depending on type of bourbon so in that sense $100 to try four is kind of a good deal.
