Is there a difference between the World Of Colour Preferred seating ticket and the Reserved seating ticket?
We are looking at the Ariel's grotto dinner with Preferred seating ticket.

7 weeks till our big Disney adventure!:woohoo:

They are one and the same.

Make sure you understand that this means access to the preferred STANDING area. There is no seating, except for a very limited amount of disabled access benches. Everyone stands to watch the show.

Please read this thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2542717&highlight=world+of+color+superthread

There is no seating for World of Color. Everyone stands to see the show. "Reserved Viewing" means a general Fastpass, which you can get for free from the machines or included with a picnic meal. Those are for the blue, yellow, and red sections that you'll read about above. "Preferred Viewing" is what you'll get with the Ariel's meal. That viewing area is slightly better than the others, provided you still get there to get a railing spot.

Not quite. If you read the language on Disneyland.com, when they talk about the Preferred Dining Packages, they refer to it as "Preferred", but when they talk about the picnics and FP's, it is "Reserved". It's a bit sneaky for a layman looking to book something who doesn't know any better, but there is a difference.

Good point. When they first released the information, they used those terms interchangably BOTH referring to the dining packages. That's what I was thinking of. But yes, you're very right, thanks for clarifying.

Sorry, small point, it's World of Color, not Would of Colour. Sorry, but it's one of those things that drives me nuts. It would be different outside the U.S., but this is in California.

Apologies:worship:, I did not mean to offend! I just automatically typed 'colour' which means 'color' to us Down Under!

Many thanks for the responses. Does anyone believe the viewing from the preferred seating area that you get with Ariel's Grotto is much better than the fast pass reserved viewing?:confused3 Or not worth the dinner & just get the fast pass? We will have to do the princess dining another day anyway!

We will have small children aged 5 with us.

I think the viewing is great along a railing in any section except the far end of Red. You just want a spot where you don't have people in front of you. Many people don't like the very front(where people rush to) because you probably get wet. Wind can also get the second and even third tier wet. A minor problem if you are finishing the night at WoC.

Again, there is no such thing as a "preferred seating" area for WOC. There is no seating. There is standing.

The preferred dining viewing area I think is the best view of the show. If you take the time to get there early enough and get a front rail spot. Otherwise it is not worth it.

Colour is fine!! that's how you spell it, so don't apologize..but any stuff you buy to take home will say World of Color and then everyone will say it's spelled wrong :)
It is a really hard call on that. I've done both..the dinner (from WCT which was really good) and late arrival with fastpass tickets. The key for either is to be at the front, or far enough back where seeing over people isn't an issue. As beautiful as the show is, the viewing area is a really poor design. You need to line up early, get to your place and park it (getting a glass of wine before being herding in helps) Also, the more center you are the better..we had front on the rail with our late in the day gotten fastpasses, but we were WAY off to the right and missed the projections effect, but it is still a great show.
Since you have little kids you really need that rail spot..please don't put kids on your shoulder to see as that makes a giant standing in front of people behind you..but you can hold a kid on your hip to make them adult size.

We did the Ariel's preferred dining in May. We got to the area 1 hour before when they opened up and got a spot right at the rail. It was awesome!

One thing - when they are opening the gates to the viewing area, pay attention. Alot of people were standing around not knowing what to do, so as soon as we saw the "preferred dining" sign go up, we went right there. They didn't have lines setup in advance, we were just told to wait by the lighthouse.
