World of Color Superthread

I haven't seen this reported yet. Did anyone not get a WoC FP? As in did the GRR distribution run out or they sold out picnic meals or the dining packages?

I'm curious if there was demand to reach capacity viewing or if they cut it short tonight.

Unfortunately, this is not true. We purchased the picnic meals (in advance, online), and we were given "yellow" section Fast Passes. This "picnic meal/yellow" section was, in fact, the VERY BACK section; there was no section behind us. . . and, we were, unfortunately, the back row of our "section".

The bottom line for me was: I could see nothing but the head of the man in front of me. I had not planned to video tape, but, holding my video camera up high and video taping was my only hope of seeing the show; so, I tried to keep my video camera up high enough to catch the show for me to watch later.

I admit that we were not "in line" to get into the "yellow" section right when they began letting people in (which was around 7:15 pm), but, I still had hopes of being able to at least "see" the show. That did not happen. It was frustrating and disappointing that, even with "advance planning" such as purchasing the picnic meal, still brings challenges, such as not being able to see, due to height issues within the section. We had originally booked the Ariel's package, then changed our minds and purchased the picnic meals; I do not know how different our experience would have been if we had gone with the Ariel's package. I would initially think that we would have had a better viewpoint and better experience; however, there is likely just as good of a chance that I would have still been behind someone taller than me, as happened in the "yellow" section; so, my experience could have still been the same.

Hope this helps!

I had the same experience. We got the picnic package and got a YELLOW area for the first show. The CMs started to let people load in way before the return time of 7:55. I only found out we were missing the load in boat after asking a suit where to go at return time. He was like they are loading now and indicated I should get over there. There was NO picnic specific yellow area based on the CMs we talked to. It was in the last section, although you could continue forward. However, it was already two rows deep about 1:45 mins before show time.

Thank goodness I'm 6'0. 5'X had trouble seeing and could not see the water (lagoon). They don't pack you in probably cause any more rows and visibility for the back goes zero. Everyone was holding either their kid up or a camera. That was hard to deal with. The picnic was nice and well organized, but the experience after was not as magical. I would have been there much earlier if not for the return time on my ticket.

I have pictures but I have to be at the park tomorrow. I am trying the dining option tomorrow (well today). I'll report if it is any better.

Since I don't want a all bad news post there is some highlights. The CMs (well some) were really trying to keep the crowd entertained and busy while waiting. The carnival of color was cute. The sound system was great although why must the light towers by at the waters edge?

I'll get more detailed later, but for now its bed time.

Someone posted something like FPs ran out sometime after noon (I'm thinking past 1 PM but I forgot the exact time)? I spoke to a person who arrived at 9:30 AM and got a FP for the 10:15 PM show, so it sounds like it's definitely "doable" to get a FP most days. :confused3

On Twitter someone posted about getting picnic lunches just a couple hours before the first show. :confused3

I got into the park at 9:30 after watching the World Cup Match 1 at ESPN Zone (note on that: whatever you do don't have the breakfast food they have) and got a ticket for Yellow 10:15 show (9pm return time).

Enjoyed my day then went over to check out the Glow Fest start up, it was interesting but mostly loud pop music with a DJ, a good way to pass time but at about 8:30 I went over towards my loading area (GRR) to see when they'd start letting people line up -- they already had. When I got in at about 8:40 I was 10th person on the right hand side lane of yellow. If you're there then you'll have your choice of spots in the zone you're assigned so I'd recommend it. About 10 minutes after show 1 (9pm) loaded out we were brought in and at that point people were told that you could go into any area of your color (as one CM said, the closer to the front you go the more interactive the show becomes). I took the second concrete zone (there's a slight raise and a grassy area between the first and second concrete zones - I'll map it in the morning) and moved right near the dining area (the play fountain I think it's called). If you can get this spot do so, it's perfect. You will get somewhat wet from this spot so bring a light rain coat but it's worth it.

As I was leaving I asked one the CMs if I got a Yellow in the future if it would mean I'm in the same place, she said that no, the color names would change but the loading locations wouldn't (so, for example GRR loading would always be what tonight was yellow) but, with all the confusion today take that for what it's worth, which is very little.

I'm not going to do a full on show review yet because my brain isn't there right now but it's enough to say that I think we've just seen the new standard for what a Disney Show can achieve, and I wouldn't want to work in engineering for a competing park on Monday.

I got into the park at 9:30....

LOL; you're not the guy I talked to on the rafts from Tom Sawyer's Island, are you? :rotfl:

I'm glad it worked out so well for you! There were a lot of spaces in yellow (at least at the 9 PM show) that were just a few feet away from our excellent spot in the reserved dining section. Despite Disney's ideas about not having people camp out for the show, early arrival seems to be the biggest key to getting a good view.

The CM near us said the folks on the boardwalk would be getting an "immersive" experience, which may have been a bit of a pun too!

Nope... not I, though at 9:30 there were about 100 of us present at the line according to CM estimates (lots of suits making lots of counts today...)

The best analogy I can come up with is to think of it as a fully inverted fastpass: You can't get another one that day, You can pay to get a better one, They'll let you in before the time on your ticket but not after, and it will allow you to wait in a longer line then you normally would have.

My one piece of advice to people going this weekend is if you can tollerate a later show time take it (bonus if you can take show 3: you have time to see the early Fantasmic and the fireworks - the fireworks go off while show 2 is in the holding zones), there was no chaos getting us in or all that much confusion on processing us in because of the hold area assignments and the fact that the previous show's movement limited ours.

WoC (Short version) - gasps, goosebumps, involuntary shrieks of delight, shivers, sighs, more shrieking, more goosebumps, tears. What a show! Everyone in my vicinity agreed that it surpassed high expectations.

The organizational end of the dining package thing was non-existent in my experience (even suits with radios couldn't tell me where I was supposed to go, and I received many different answers from many different people as I tried to find out where to go) but I ended up smack dab in the center of the blue area on a level two above the level closest to the water so it worked out. The preferred dining fastpasses did not have a color on them, which was one of the reasons no one seemed to know what to tell me.

The Ariel's Grotto dinner was uneven but overall very good, and the dessert alone was amazing (macaroons, fancy chocolate cake, three little fruit custards, chocolate cup (literally an adorable espresso sized cup made of chocolate, handle and all) with coffee flavored mousse like filling, fresh fruit and an amazing white chocolate decorated banner. I was seated promptly, and the food came quickly. Although I was dining alone I was served the appetizer, salad and dessert that normally feed two. There will be pictures when I have decent internet once home.

Did you have to wait long in line for your FP?

- giggle - We were in the front tier and I used my sweatshirt as a cover for a decent portion of the show. It was sufficiently damp at the end of the show (not dripping, but glad I wasn't wearing it) and my long hair was ready for lathering if there was some shampoo handy.

The people on the boardwalk in front of us, LOL, yeah, wet is one word.

Of course, the CMs using squeegees to get that area ready (i.e. rid of water from the previous show) was an indicator of what was ahead. :rotfl:

The boardwalk is an immersive experience indeed. :lmao:

Do we know yet who are the lucky guests (picnic, FP, Dinners?) that get the  Niagara Falls WoC experience?

When we were there, everyone was in their sections. Shortly before the show began, a large group of people were lead by CMs into the boardwalk area. We asked one of them where they came from. They told us they were "up top on the side and a cast member asked if we wanted to come down front." They were told they would get wet, but I don't know if they understood quite how wet. :lmao:

We were in DCA an hour ago hoping to get a fastpass for GRR. To our surprise, the machines were still giving out WoC FP, but the wait for GRR was only 10 mins so it worked out for us.

We've noticed a dramatic difference in crowd level. Thursday was very crowded early on, we opted out of Peter Pan during MM, but were able to ride multiple times this morning (Sat). So if you only get 1 MM and are trying to decide which day to use it, I would recommend Saturday. We were here last August and had the same observation.

Another thought about the day after Grad Nite. Star Tours and Buzz was down due to the fact that they were running all night and needed time to "refresh" the system.

What was the time window on your FP and what time did you get in line?

Our ticket said to return between 7:30 pm and 8:30 pm; however, earlier that afternoon, I had spoken with a CM, who really seemed to know what he was talking about (yeah, right!), and he confirmed where I was to go during my window; then, UNFORTUNATELY, he added, "but, don't go early! There is no need to go early." Since my family was not as "hip" as me on going early and waiting, I asked him if 8:00 pm would be early enough and he said, "Absolutely!" We ended up "checking in" by about 8:05 pm - 8:10 pm.

Well, he was wrong . . . especially because they started "seating" everybody long before 7:30 pm even arrived. :sad2:

Did you have to wait long in line for your FP?
15 - 20 minutes but the lines got longer shortly after I got mine (when I got in line the end was right at the end of the switchback, right next to the FP machines themselves... so close but still so far)

A third show was added "officially" for tonight. Not sure what time the decision was made, but the person I heard it from heard about it around 3pm.

Maybe pics have been posted somewhere but I thought you might enjoy a picture of our dessert from Ariel's Grotto. :)

How does the 3rd showing work? Sounds like it is just announced later in the day without Fast Passes. Since the park closes at 10 and the show isn't until 11:15 or something, how do you get in, and where do you go. We are going tomorrow and would love some insight in case we don't get FP in time.
