Okay I just had to report on this because so many things went wrong that by the end we were laughing. This is long....

As a background, I booked our dining reservation a couple weeks ago (when I saw the info on here) at WCT for 5:30, for 5 of us (my parents from Canada, and my husband, me and son 4 years old from Northern CA). I then received a call a week later that the time had been changed to 6:50 but the CM assured me that it was still for the first show at 9 pm.

We arrived here last Tuesday, and my parents went to WCT today where the CM said 'oh no your reservation would be for the second show at 10:15'. WHAT? My son can't stay up that late. So I was flustered and surprised, went back to my room at DLH and called Disney Dining. the CM said, no they were wrong, it's for the first show. Called husband who was in the park and told him - go back and check at WCT again. He went back and the SAME girl said it was the first show....problem #1 but not the last.

We got to WCT at about 6:35 expecting to wait. They said we could sit outside right away or wait up to 40 min for inside. Of course we didn't want to wait so we said outside. We were then told we could sit upstairs where it's more covered and out of the wind (it was a little windy/chilly today) so we said great.

We sat down and waited and waited and waited. Lots of servers went by but nobody acknowledged our presence so after 15 min we asked and a guy finally showed up, said he didn't know who our server was but would take our order. He thought we were ordering off the menu but we said 'no we have the WOC dining'. He was pretty clueless about the whole thing but took our order and we splurged as well for a bottle of wine. Ok so another 15 goes by and nothing comes...no wine, no bread, no water...NOTHING. We finally wave a manager over and let them know so she goes to check. Finally the bread and salad arrive, and water....still no wine. The bread was very good, and warm. Salad was awesome! Of course by this time of after 7 pm we were starving. They also brought some little appetizers which were also good...still no wine.

We finally ask the seating lady again about the wine...she goes to check and finally it arrives after half our meal is over, but it's good. The big manager then comes over and we find out he's in charge of all the food in the park. He goes to check on our entrees and comes back saying they will be here soon, the kitchen got totally overwhelmed he explained and could not handle the big rush they had earlier. He then tells us the wine is free and another manager shows up and gives us a pass for six of us to go on any ride ahead of the line (except TTMM of course).

So FINALLY the entrees arrive! My husband had the steak and they never asked how he wanted it done and it came tough and overcooked. My mom had the chicken which she liked. My Dad and I ordered the seafood pasta but they brought us the kids pasta with no seafood!! We had to flag our server down and she confirmed (our original server finally showed up back from her dinner break) they were wrong and whisked them off back to the kitchen....another 10 min wait for us to get the right food. By this time I am getting worried about getting over to find our standing area, so we tell her to bring the dessert and check right away. We had no dessert plates, just ate it off the platter and got out of there.

The seating CM told us to take our tickets now to the Grizzly Fast Pass area to get other tickets with a color (ours just have black on them, no color). WHAT? Does not make any sense but I leave everyone there and run over but the section is roped off. I then talk to another CM who says 'no that was totally wrong just go to AG to line up and tell them you are with the orange section'. Okay run back and grab the family and head to AG. We get to the bridge and have to ask again, where is the dining seating? Finally someone leads us down into the middle area. There was tons of room in the 'circle' part we were in. I'm sure others will report in depth about the different areas...just had to share our experience as so many things went wrong and it made it very difficult to enjoy the meal although for the most part the food was very good.

AND...we all loved the show. I had to stand on my tip toes to really see, lots of heads in my way, but glad the CM's made the kids get off their Dad's shoulders. Still well worth it and cannot wait to see it again!!!!!

Sounds like dinner was bumpy due to the restaurant being overwhelmed, but the FP and the show worked out great. YAY! And you got front-of-line passes. Nice! Glad you liked the show.

Wow! Glad you made it through. Others might have lost their minds in the middle of it all. :)

glad the CM's made the kids get off their Dad's shoulders.

Woohoo!!!

Can't stand the shoulder thing. Still recall the shame I felt when I had been on Nemo with my brother, went to find DH and DS at the parade, and saw that DH was holding DS on his shoulders! Augh!!!! We don't do that! :headache: Should state that he was at the back of the roped off parade area, and no one should have been standing behind him (they would have been in the "keep walking keep walking" pathway), but still, it's the principle of the thing. :)

So then I think my gripe would be primarily, if you (being an adult) had to stand on your tip-toes to see (and you were in the primo reserved space) how on earth are children supposed to see?

I was thinking of doing the dining package when we are on our trip in Nov/Dec but this is what worries me. I am not tall by any means (quite short actually) and neither of my kids are tall either. So if we fork out the bucks for the premium dining package we are still not guaranteed of actually being able to see, is that right?

The CM told everyone that there is no carrying kids on the adults shoulders during the show. This was a good thing for all these other people, when my DA and I were watching the show, I seen a lot of young kids are being carried not on the shoulders but chess. I bet a lot of the young kids were disappointed of not seeing WoC from a good view.

The only reason I ask Dreams is because she did mention that she had to stand on her tip-toes to be able to see (and there were still lots of heads in her way). So if an adult has to do that to be able to see then how are kids supposed to see?

Sorry to read about the confusion and running around you had to do, but you certainly took it all in stride! You have such a wonderful attitude and I am so glad that you didn't let it ruin your fun. Did you have to stand on your tip toes the entire time to really see? Another poster raised a good concern...will this be a problem for children or shorter people?

I understand. The show takes place on giant, high fountains. As I have posted previously, you don't need to see the base. Disney designed this area specifically for this show, specifically for family entertainment, yet no one seems to trust that people will be able to see.

As I was reading the above summary, I was concerned - until I read the last line. So, I left with the concept that they really enjoyed the show. You left with the idea that you might not be able to see. It was just interesting to me. Sorry, was just an observation. :goodvibes

Thank you for the detailed review! Hopefully these bumps will be ironed out as the staff learns the ropes & the suits figure out what the restaurants can handle. I'm glad to hear the food is tasty. We are going to WCT for WOC on Tuesday & I plan on the steak so I'll be sure to tell them medium.

All in all, while your experience was aggravating it sounds like the package is worth it in the end...especially when taking in to account not having to fight the masses for the showpass at park opening (I can just grab our Soarin' FP's & head to TSMM!)

Very interesting. I am hoping to get AG reservations in August. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!

I've had to lead a few businesses through openings and mergers. Those snags happen all the time. This I'm sure was why the F&B head was there.

It's strange you didn't have a waiter or waitress though. I mean they assign the tables and I doubt they moved them around that night. But I can see how the kitchen was busy and probably the bar area where the wine was.

I hope you ordered a top shelf bottle.

I can see why the ride ops, dining, and crowd management all had different ideas of how it was supposed to work. Even at disney this is tough for a CM to know how everything works. They train for the changes in their posistion but not everyone elses too. And what chance will any of them have to eat at AG and get a dining FP for the show?

I once took a whole support staff through a new store so they would see what happens when clients come through the door. Where the receptionist was, where the offices were, the break room and meeting room. They thought it was crazy to leave their job and drive across town but I wanted them to know when they called the store what phone would be ringing where.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the WCT. We had a 5pm reservation today at WCT also and it couldn't have gone any smoother. Perhaps they were truly overwhelmed by the demand.

Note to others who plan on doing the dinning package. You will get a fastpass looking ticket that says "Preferred Viewing" instead of a color section. We talked to CMs and suits to try and figure out where to go, and finally got a GC lead to find the answer for us. They did ask which restaurant we dined at, wonder if that makes a difference. We ended up in the Blue section, or the center of Paradise Park (I think), where the play fountain is. It's roped off for preferred viewing, and they check your ticket every step of the way. One thing I took away from the experience was don't be afraid to ask, and ask multiple times if necessary. The GC leads are most helpful, with the most accurate info.

The play fountain area was not crowed at all. I would say it was filled 30-40% to capacity. For those of you with small children, you can hold them but they can't be on your shoulders.

Carnival of Colors was definitely the icing on the cake. It starts at 8:30pm.

Overall I would recommend the WCT dinning package. Just make sure you have an earlier reservation.

I let ds on dh's shoulders if we are at the back of the viewing area...I guess I might rethink that. I suppose people seeing that might try the same thing toward the front of the viewing area, and then we'd have problems!

Glad it all turned out in the end! Patience is indeed a virtue, especially with a new show and dining option and a wait-staff obviously not performing at their peak!

I'm so sorry so many things went wrong for you! I made my reservation about when you did and when I called them back to confirm later, they said it wasn't for World of Color. :scared1: We ended up with a 4:40 PM reservation and though the service was slow everything went fine. I'm pretty sure that manager over foods came to visit us too. He asked when I booked and I did explain that situation. ;)

I was right there with you OP and had many of the same fiasco's. A WCT manager happened to stop by my table and asked how things were going. :rolleyes1 I at least wasn't sent running here and there for different fast passes but when I did ask the WOC CM how people with picnic meals got to be in the preferred viewing I didn't get a good answer. Some got blue seating and other's got the preferred according to her. And then there were the regular fast pass people who decided they didn't want to be the in the lowest blue section so they just came into the preferred area.

I will have to disagree that it doesn't detract from the show to not be able to see the base of the water. I think it's best when you can - and that's tough from the viewing area unless you are in the front of the stepped up standing sections. It is a good show. The layout of things could have been much better IMO and wow - the handling of it all is really by the seat of their pants considering how long it's been coming. I cannot tell you how many other kinds of misdirections I was given. One - oh well. Two - hmmmmmm. Three or more - frustration.

At WCT there were ton's of suits. And not one even getting water for guests. My water came when I was 3/4 of the way thru the meal and it was the first thing I asked for.

I'm hoping they will get it all worked out before we get there. We have a 6:30 seating at Ariel's on June 30 that I will try to change to earlier later today. It sounds like the Preferred Dining section is where the Play Fountains are? I'm looking forward to seeing them work out everything...

I guess we can only expect things to not go smooth for a little bit since it's all a new experience for that park. It'll get better I'm sure.

FOr those who have watched the show, how was crowd control handled in your opinion? BOth before and after the show? thanks!!
