Has your workplace organised it's Crimbo party yet ? My DH's works have arranged for us to attend a 'Las Vegas Christmas Party' at the NEC in Birmingham. It sound like loads of fun, with a dinner, dance, casino with roulette and black jack and also a fun fair. Has anyone been to anything like this ? My biggest concern is what do I wear, I had planned to get a 'little black dress' for the Xmas 'do', but I might look a berk on a merry-go-round wearing it.

Any ideas ?

Well Mandy,

I reckon you have two options:

Smart trouser suit (or similar)

Or

No Merry go round.

What's it to be LOL?

Your event does sound fun. Christmas parties drive me crackers though (no pun intended)! I've got FIVE do's in the space of 3 weekends (and all just before we go away). At the expense of sounding like a party pooper this is just far too many. And the hassle of babysitters!!!!

Or....little black dress and big knickers :)

We have having 2 this year, one at a big hotel and one at the indian restaurant :teeth:

Went to something similar a few years ago in London and it was quite smart!! I would go with the little black dress - think it's a must for a christmas party!!!

We are going for a christmas curry again this year - although this time I intend to eat some food and NOT go with the liquid option like last year - think the hangover lasted about a week!!!!:teeth: :teeth:

Actually, I'm a bit worried, cos me and alcohol don't get on too well, it only takes 2 Bacardi Breezers and I go a bit loopy, so you can imagine my dilemma when I found out that all the wine/beer/drinks are free all night. We go on December 10th so I may have sobered up around New Year:drinking1

i'd go for a pants suit so when your drunk its harder to be embarressed.

i tend to wear a full 3 piece tux to my firms do. 1. to look smart and 2. so if i get so drunk that i get hot and decide some layers need to go i still have layers over my bday suit :p LOL

Our Christmas party is always the same:o Off to some posh hotel for a 3 course meal then a disco and we can't take our partners:rolleyes: Working at mothercare there isn't one man there so you can imagine it gets a bit boring. Thers about 60 of us supposed to go and only about 20 ever turn up:rolleyes: But i'm sure you will have a great time Mandy:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc I would wear the trouser suit in case i fell off the merry go round i am known for being a light weight:eek: But Kaylee had a great idea a bit of bridget jones and seeing as the new one will be being released around that time you will be seen as just following fashion:cool:

Works Christmas parties? I avoid them like the plague! :p

My workplace has only four employees, so it's a bit hard to get much of a party atmosphere going! LOL! Sometimes the area 'people' will arrange a get-together for a larger crowd but I don't seem to have made it to many of them either.

DH's Christmas party is a strictly 'no husband/wives/partners' event

shellbell - I was a Departmental Manager with Mothercare many (very many!) years ago, but we never had any Christmas parties! Things must have improved ;)

I'd go trouser suit less chance of showing off your knickers ;)

I can't wait for DH xmas do his company is splashing out for a hotel room and for everyone to go ice skating where as mine (the very next day mind) is at a hotel that is a bit dear for partners imo so he won't be goin i'll be on my lonsome and I don't deal well with strangers I get a bit shy

a BIT loopy, mum??

My company always hold a huge party down in london, 1500 people usually attend and they have two parties to make sure that the 3000 UK works can all go.

We get put up at the Intercontinental and then we have the ;party at the Grosvenor House Hotel in the Great Room. Last year was the first time I had been to it...........i was:eek: never seen anything like it! it was seriously:smooth: cool!

Our party has a theme of mowtown for this year so that should be excellent!:teeth:

Thanks for all your ideas folks, I think I'll go with the black suit, then I can't show off all the 'support' under it. So glad that Rhys goes for the suit too, but the idea of him in a 'little black dress' does make me smile.

lol i've never worn a little black dress before.... maybe another dress but lets not go into that alcohol induced night :p

i really enjoy wearing my tux. it suits me and it feels comfortable.

Anyone else got their Crimbo party organised yet? and are you doing anything unusual (like having a beach party or Vicars and Tarts 'do' - LOL !!!)

Our theme is "Black and White" (I know, how unimaginative is that:rolleyes: )

So Karen

What are you going as ? Is it a fancy dress ?

Anyway will you be back home in time for it ?

p.s. I've got loads of ideas for you zebra, zebra crossing, penguin, newspaper etc. etc

Very good, Mandy ;)

The party is before we go away but I've decided to give it a miss as I'm going to three other work Xmas parties  and it gets a bit much organising babysitters LOL.

I like the zebra idea best.......
