First off I wanted to thank everyone who answered my two previous questions last week about DCL cancellation policy and the unlimited internet access onboard. Now for my next question....

I know there is a "fitness center" on the Magic but I can't tell from the DCL site if it is open to everyone or just those who purchase a Spa package. Is it open to everyone? If so, what are the hours of operation? How big is it, what type of equipment do they have there and how busy is it usually?

Any info appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yes there is a fitness center that is in the same area as the spa on deck 9 forward. Most of the stair climbers and treadmill units face televisions above and look down on the captains navigation and steering room. Limited weight equipment, but plenty for the amount of use it gets. Lots of dumb bells. Maybe 5-6 cybex machines.

I kind of enjoy the area, never seems to be too busy.

My husband enjoys using the workout facilities on the ship. He has photos of the equipment on our website at www.castawayclub.com if you want a sneak preview. The only odd thing on the Magic was that they were chronically short of locker keys...I guess that guests just walk off with them. If the situation is still the same, Magic cruisers might want to just go in your workout attire rather than changing there.

I also enjoyed running on deck 4. It was a great way to work off some of those pounds from the great meals, while at the same time enjoying the view while at sea or at port. I was running as we approached Castaway Cay. With each lap I got a little closer. This was much better than running in cold, icy Minnesota!

Yes, the fitness center is open to all guests age 18 and older. :)

It's a small facility but pretty good, there are treadmills, lifecycles, rowing machines, stair steppers, weight machines and free weights.

It's definitely busier on sea days than port days, but it never seems to be so full that you can't get some equipment. There are also fitness classes offered throughout the week.

Has anyone ever done the aerobics or attended a seminar with the PT?

I'm doing "Richard Simmons" right now so I'm not looking for anything toooooooo vigorous!

is there an elliptical machine or two? Treadmills kill my knees but lifecycles would be ok - I'm just hoping someone forgot to mention an elliptical (fingers crossed)?
