I was wondering if anybody around works (or worked) in one of the WDW Resort restaurants. I'm (hopefully) going to graduate next year as a pastry chef and was considering looking into WDW. Thoughts or comments would be appreciated! Thanks!

No ideas from me here, Chris, but maybe a bump will help.. If nothing tonight, try again tomorrow, mid-day, busier then. And welcome to the DIS.

My daughter is in the CP and when I dropped her off a couple weeks ago, I was speaking with a guy who mentioned how they are hiring all the time in all fields. I think you have to commit to moving there and then "paying your dues." Low wage, no bennies for a little while. Try this site to get an idea. http://www.disney.go.com/DisneyCareers/wdwcareers/
Hope this helps.

My step dad has worked there for 15+ years and they are thinking of moving in the next year closer to home (TN). He really enjoyed it though, and as far as I can tell they were making decent money and had good benefits.

In looking at their college program presentation schedule, I noticed that some of the areas of interviews at culinary schools were specific to those programs. Here is the schedule. It could be that your school actually participates in the program and you just don't know about it. Don't know how it works for a graduate if at all, but it's a start. The college program is actually for students currently in school.

When I was on my CP, I lived with an older woman (not college age) that was a pastry chef. We weren't very close, so I am not sure the details but I too would look into the CP to start. Great opportunities.

Thanks for the advice. I knew about the CP, but it's not really a viable option since my husband would be stuck either here in Charlotte without me (and we'd be paying double rents) or he'd have to come with me.... but right now he makes the money, so that's not very good. My school did have Disney come, but like any company, I would expect them to paint a lovely picture, which may not be entirely true (any company would of course talk up their perks and down play any negatives!). Thanks so much though for all the help and if anybody else knows more, feel free to chime in!
