Hi, i really wanna work at disney world in the summer. However, im only 17. Anybody think a 17 year old highschool student can work there? Im not looking for a serious job, i can just wash dishes, clean the table or something and im not in it for the money so i dont care how low the pay is. Anyone have any idea?
Btw im not living in florida

It's going to depend on what department you work in, but yes, 17 year olds can work at Disney (or Universal/Sea World, for that matter, if you can't get a job at Disney), but only in some jobs (and not very many). Your best bet is to go to the career websites for the parks and see what is available, then apply for things you are interested in and qualify for.

The only question I have is if you have someone in Florida to live with while you work there, because you won't be able to rent an apartment, and the only on site living places they have are for the college program.

Do you have a relative to stay with within the vicinity of WDW? If so, please be very clear on your application what your living arrangement will be. If Disney receives a job application and sees that the person applying does not have a home address within the area, let alone out of state, they're likely to bypass it.

As for working for the Disney Co. at the age of 17, sure! You'll want to head to the Disney Careers website and check the appropriate boxes for the open positions not requiring a college degree (retail, bus boy, etc). Best of luck! :goodvibes

A person who is the child of a full-time WDW Cast Member, living with the CM, and under age 18 can get a part time or seasonal job at WDW. Otherwise they will not employ anyone under age 18.

and the international program (I believe)
I havent thought about that

:confused3 That is an odd thing to not even think about. I have a 17 year old; it would never occur to her to look for a job anywhere and expect that housing would be provided at her age :confused3

I do not think ANY place will take on the liability of an under 18 year old living and working onsite in the US. The closest thing might be as a counselor in training at a summer camp, but that usually still carries a fee for you (not being paid), mostly so you are covered as a participant under their insurance and not as an employee.

You could try for something the following summer, once you are 18, but even then you need to be realistic about living arrangements. I doubt Disney is looking to hire people who do not think things through well enough to know they need a place to live within commuting distance of their workplace ;)
