Do Disney Store employees get a discount at the WDW resorts or on park tickets? If so, what's to keep someone from getting a part time job there for a brief time, buying their tickets, then quitting?

Ethics? I'm not trying to be flip, really. Yes, some people do that. Unfortunately, the store and other CMs pay the price. It takes time and effort to train someone for a position. Schedules are made based on someone making a commitment. Other applicants are denied a chance because the last position is filled.

To answer your question, yes, CMs get a small discount. BUT, you can actually get better deals from online ticket brokers like Paramount.

I was told (do not know how true it is) that they do bring CM in the stores down for certian events. Not for free but for a deeply discounted rate. This was a few years ago but it stuck out in my mind.

I used to work at the Disney Store, 2 years ago, and when I did CMs got free Disney Park tickets and up to 2 or 3 family members also got free admission tickets. Also, most rooms we could get for 50% off. There is also a special CM store at the theme parks.

How many hours does a person have to work a week for a part time job at TDS? Could a person do weekends only? Do they get a discount off merchandise in the store as well? I was thinking about doing part time on the weekends (if they are hiring) because I shop there so much it would be great for a discount. My son would think I was the coolest mommy working at TDS LOL.

I worked several years ago at TDS in Florida and if I am not mistaken there were no minimum hours required. As a matter of fact there are no full time positions, only part time. The free ticket was for one day admission. I started working there in Oct and was considered Christmas hire. I was asked to stay on in January, but quit in March and never rec'd any free ticket. You do receive discount on merchandise and hotel stay, but one of the really nice perks was the day after Xmas the store opened 1 hour earlier for the employees so they could get the sale merchandise before the general public. They paid minimum wage, but I did it more for keeping myself occupied, rather than sitting in front of the TV.

Most stores require 3-4 days of availability including weekends. The shifts are usually 4-5 hour shifts. This would be the very minimum during the holiday season. As for tickets for your family members, you would have to be perm/part time to get the one day free hoppers (2), twice a year. Those are the only tickets you could use for your family. The CM is the only one that gets in on their ID (free). Unless you are management and have a silver pass, then your spouse and dependents can use that also.
It is definitely a job harder than it looks and requires some commitment to the training involved. It's not something that you'd work two weeks for, get some benefits, then leave. The small discount on park tickets is no way worth all that. That said, it can also be a really fun job!
