A wonderful person told me that crates are your best friend. I have come to learn why!!!

OH YEA... I do not have alot of credits yet so i am slowly getting stuff!!

It looks nice. Hey, we all had to start somewhere!:)

But what I want to know is how did you login? Because I have not been able to get on since Tuesday morning??

gosh i have been on since about 730 central time

Looking good :D

I understand about being low on credits and none of us ever pass up free stuff to use in building. Crates are your best freind yes but free building supplies even better. I love the Dead Mans treasure chests that you can get from the Pirate Plunder game. Here's a link to the promotions page on VMK. http://vmk.disney.go.com/vmk/en_US/community/index?name=PromotionsPage
Also when you are playing the pirates game in VMK dont forget to cash in on your keys. Prizes from the keys can be Pirate Thrones, Pirate hats, Pirate walls and turrets. The walls are very handy in building as well.
Keep your eyes on the events page for Host events. Many times in their quests they will have decorations to use for your rooms or credits to buy stuff with.

Good luck with your room! I cant wait to see it when your all finished :goodvibes

Your room is looking great! The river wrapping around the fountain is a pretty sight.

Tips:

- Think out what you might want it to look like in the end so you have an idea of where you are going.

- Be willing to change that idea with new visions that come to you as you build.

- This is the hardest thing for me and after building for 2 years I STILL don't do it well, but - Try to build from the back of your room first working your way forward. It is much easier to change things in front of objects than something in the very back that you can't see or get to without taking things in front of it down.

- Remember that it's your room and your creation. Make it something you are proud of and you enjoy and you will be set!

Your room is off to a good start. Good work!

Looks like you are off to a great start! I love your use of the Tiki Fountain. I agree with Dreams about getting a concept in your mind from the beginning. I also like to think about what the room will be for primarily. Is it a place to sit and chat or do I want it to be a ride room, etc.

By the way, StephAnn, I think I closed the evening in a game of fireworks with you. My Vmk name is PrincessWendyBird just like here. If that was you, then good game!:thumbsup2

Looks good to me! Wish I had some credits to start working on mine. I just started playing, so I don't have hardly any. Especially after wasting so many of the Hidden Mickeys, and I still don't have them all. They should give you more film. :)

Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see it finished!

Hugs,

Another build trick besides learning how good crates are is, learning that haunted mansion tables are even better :thumbsup2

If you need just a little height and small spaces than crates are good. When you need more height and big areas a table is almost 2 crates high and takes up 4 spaces, so more like 8 crates per table :)

Thanks guys, and as far as an idea and willing to change. LOL. i have some what of an idea and you should see the number of screen captions i did to paste before i did that one. LOL. So i am definetly subject to change.

Isn't it a womens right to change things every 3 or 4 days :)!

Also if this is your first ride this is what I did because I could never tell what direction the river was moving. Get on the ride and you will stop it the river is going the wrong direction. You can change the direction and go on yoru way till you hit another wrong way piece :)

Yes, i did figure that one out. Kept wondering why it would not go. LOL!!

Thanks for the tip!!

hey there steph!! room is looking good...hehe yes crates are very helpful, everyone else in this thread has suggested great ideas!

Keep working at it! Like everything, it takes practice! :goodvibes

If you decide to build higher using poles it is best to place the piece down first. so you know where the poles will go. Then place only one set of poles on and then try the river piece again (I mostly do this for curves.) Make sure the poles are in the right position. Then you can build up from there.

But if you are building high all the way around say eight poles long do the first row then second so you can keep track of the poles it can get confusing and you can see each pole this way.

So do this

:rotfl: :rotfl2: I'm laughing because there is no reason to laugh. This is a great start to a room!
I suggest using Dead Man's Chests to prop up your pieces. If you go to this link:
Dead Man's Chest Game
You can get to the end.
