Don't worry, it's not another vent! ;) I've been considering getting a part time job that I can do at home online. I've been researching jobs, but a lot of what I found seem like scams. I was wondering if any of you guys have experiences with this kind of work. Do you have any companies you could recommend?

I don’t want to have to pay for any certifications though! (like the transcription courses)

Thanks! :goodvibes

Are you asking if I have experience with scams? :)

There is always eBay. I used to make a good amount of money going to Garage sales and flea markets, buying stuff cheap and selling it on ebay for a lot more. Most people don't know what they are selling.

No, the job opportunities. I'm hoping not to be scammed!

I've found a couple customer service type jobs, but I'm just afraid to get sucked in to anything I know nothing about!

I do have experience with the scams though.

A coworker of mine was involved in one. His wife has never been able to hold a job so one day he comes to me and says his wife got a great job offer. She would be payment advisor for U.S. customers. They would buy her a top of the line laptop (she had to buy and submit for reimbursement) and then she had to cash payment checks and forward the money to their HQ in England.

I said to him that this sounds exactly like money laundering and she should not do it. 2 months later, the FBI was knocking on their door. She was not arrested but they did have to pay back about $5,000 that they unknowingly stole.

I happen to work from home with a company that only hires people in the KC metro, but before that I worked for West and Live Ops and if you go to clarkhoward.com and search for work from home, he has like 10 companies listed there that do customer service mostly.

I happend to find my job at wahm.com. They have a ton of ideas and you can ask about any company you come across, they are like watch dogs for scams!

Good luck!

I work at home w/LiveOps. Actually, I'm working right now :) I'm doing proctoring calls right now. Normally I take calls for infomercials. When I'm taking the infomercial calls, I wouldn't have time to be elsewhere. :rolleyes1 I work about 20 - 25 hrs a week.

The start up cost for LO is $30 background check, your phone line and phone/headset and of course your computer. It is slow starting out but there is money to be made.

If you have any questions about LO, let me know.

I was actually just poking around at the Wahm.com message boards and the board for live ops was closed. How do you like the work, is the pay steady. I do insurance claims over the phone now, at work in a cubicle, which is miserable. Are the people you have to talk to nice?
