We are spending the day in Epcot today. I will give a detailed report later but wanted to let you all know my observations about the World Cup. Merchandise is plentiful, representing all countries. Very well done!

This afternoon, it started to rain, so my son and I went over to the Odyssey, where 2 games were being broadcast. The Brazil game was on the big screen and the Mexico game was on the smaller screens. The inside of the Odyssey has plenty of seating and tables. Crowds were very well behaved. When Brazil scored, it was deafening!

There were guests of all nationalities here during these games. Lots of staff members.

I was unsure of how I felt about showing this event in Epcot. But it has not interfered with my touring plans at all. I think it is a great idea!!

Go USA!!

Can you give us a rough idea of how many soccer riots broke out?

;-)

I am sorry, but I do not have pictures as I did not take any. Plus, I have no idea how to post pictures in these forums.

As to the riot question, I am happy to report there were none!

I am going Thursday for the USA game. Will take pictures and post a report maybe Friday

Awesome!:)

That will be the second "All World Showcase" match!

Look forward to the pics.:)

So I went to Epcot today to watch the USA vs Germany game. Arrived at the Odyssey at 10:45am and it was packed, they had opened at 10:30am and there was a line of people outside waiting to go in. If you are familiar with the set up inside they have a large room in the middle and then 2 lower smaller areas on each side. Like the other games they show the more popular game in the big room in the middle and the less popular game in the 2 smaller areas.
Like I said it was completely packed by 11am (there was a line of people forming outside to check capacity) and all the chairs, sofas, tables were taken. I asked the manager if they would switch the 2 tv's in the smaller areas to the US game and she said no. She also announced at 11:30am that the 2 smaller areas would show the Portugal vs Ghana game, a lot of people groaned, because these 2 areas were completely empty. Around 11:50am she came back on the PA and said that they had switched the tvs in the smaller area to the USA game. We grabbed a table and chairs in front of one of the tv on the side.
They let about 20 more people in but a lot were left out because of capacity.
Everyone behaved, a lot of cheering, groaning (when the US missed) there were a couple of tables with Germany fans and when they scored they cheered and high fived. No one got offended, mean or obnoxious. Many people were drinking beer but everyone behaved
It was really cool to watch in with that many people. We will be going back to watch other games
Here's a video of the rooms singing the National Anthem
