I once got the word on the first try.

I like to start with these 3 words:

GREAT
SOUND, BOUND OR HOUND
DEPENDING ON WHICH WORD I USED ABOVE :
SPICY, FLICK, CLICK

the word I got on first try was sound

I got it once on the first try. My word was always TRAIN and it was the word a couple months ago. Now my starter word is usually STEAM. My youngest son is a steam train fanatic and those seemed like good starter words.

I used to use a variety of starter words but eventually decided to use the same starter word every time. It took less brain power that way and it usually gave me one or more letters.

SOUND, BOUND OR HOUND

When none of the right letters are in my starter word, then I usually use a word like "pound."
