A word from the Greek word kismos, meaning to preserve or beautify.

Anyone know or know where DS can find the answer to this?

Thanks :)

Oh I wonder if you're right. We've done all sorts of searches on the word. It keeps coming back to "world", like the cosmos.

But that does make some sense.

Well it's for bonus points I just found out, so I'll let you know tomorrow!

It was a wild guess, but let me know if it is right! It was the only thing I could come up with that was remotely close . . .

He just told me that he has to put the guess in a box and the teacher tells them at the end of the week.

This is going to be a once a week thing, so I'll be asking again next week LOL :teeth:

Thanks Deb, :)

Main Entry: 1cos·met·ic
Pronunciation: käz-'me-tik
Function: adjective
Etymology: Greek kosmEtikos skilled in adornment, from kosmein to arrange, adorn, from kosmos order
1 : of, relating to, or making for beauty especially of the complexion : BEAUTIFYING <cosmetic salves>
2 : done or made for the sake of appearance: as a : correcting defects especially of the face <cosmetic surgery> b : DECORATIVE, ORNAMENTAL c : not substantive : SUPERFICIAL <cosmetic changes>
3 : visually appealing

I was going to say that the only reference I found was for "world" but it looks like you already found that! I'd say "cosmetic" is an awfully good guess!

not to be a kill-joy because I really don't care, but....Isn't this cheating???? :p

Nah, I don't think so.

He searched everywhere he could on his own to find the answer. If I had known the answer, I would have made him search for it before I gave it to him. Would that have been cheating?

Also...and this is the main thing...his grade will not be made on a bonus point.

His grade will be made on everything else he does in the class.

Nah! I'm just glad Dr. Deb is a friend of mine. :teeth:
:wave2: Deb!!
