word of advice if eating at Tchoup Choup

Just got back from great vacation. spent 4 nites at HRH. One night ate at Tchoups. Great food, but service was way,way way to fast.

We had not even finished our appetizers when the meal was out.
My son just about finished the last drop of liquid in in "Surf Up" $5.99 drink when the waiter was more than eager to refill up.

I felt too,too rushed. I made a comment to one of our 3 waiters and she replied that it was the standard 15 minutes since we ordered.

Even the GM came over & I told her how meal went too fast. She said I should of sent the food back. When I commented I didn't want it under the lights, she stated they would of made the whole meal over.

We had a 5:30 pm ressie and place was not totally full so maybe that was one reason why food came so fast. But if I am willing to pay $200 for a nice dinner, I shouldn't be out the door in 58 minutes flat.

On the plus side, My chilian sea bass was delectable. Don't order the steak..not worth the price...hubby had it,,,said was good but by far not the best.

Romanian grilled salad superb and crabmeat/rib appetizers were just as wonderful.

so....bottom line folks. don't order your main course until either your appy's come or you are finished with them.

any other questions, ask away

Thanks for the review! It sounds great. I think they are so "eager" to please, that they don't realize that they may be too fast. I agree with you 100%.

Thank you for sharing!

In my family we don't usually open the menu until we are well into our first round of drinks (ok--maybe someone will peek at the appetizers and order a few with the drinks). We will then look at the menu and decide on soups, salads and entrees and if we are ordering a course before the entree, we often wait until we are served the soups or salads before ordering the entree. This gives us time to enjoy the meal and one another without feeling rushed.

Yeah I agree like to take time over meal glad u had a nice meal though:jester:

That's interesting, because we ate there this past Wednesday and weren't rushed a bit. We did have a later reservation (7:15), and nobody seemed to be coming in behind us.

Maybe there is something to eating there later. We had reservations at 8P and we werent rushed either. I would have hated feeling rushed too! Its a beautiful place and patrons should be able to have a nice relaxing meal if they desire.

I guess that I am really in the minority. I did not feel rushed there but I appreciate my food coming out quickly. I am not a lingerer and liked that my soup came right out with my entree soon after I was done. I think we were there about an hour which was plenty for me. It was one of the best if not the best place I've ever ate.

I can relate, minijeanie. I've never felt as rushed as you did at Tchoup Chop, but I have felt that the service was sometimes, shall we say "over-attentive" and that they were pushing the drinks a bit too hard.

One way out of that is to do the special 5-course tasting menu at the food bar. There the chef can keep an eye on how everyone's coming along, so the next course is never rushed. The waiters still come by regularly to sell you another drink, though.

We have had early and later reservations...never been rushed once...or felt rushed.
