First I must say that I am not real sure what I am doing. I am new at this trip report thing but want to give it a try! If I make major blunders... well, you'll have to overlook them!
THE TRIP: We will be at Disneyworld January 16-22! Staying at POP Century. 6 day Park Hopper
THE CAST: Just me (36) and my DH (36)!!! Can you believe it??? A whole week away from the chaos... I mean kids! ( Just for reference Jasmine (8) and Buzz (6))
For a little background...
This trip originated out of necessity... the necessity of my sanity!!! You see, in the past year, our family has experienced: a child with cancer (Jasmine), a husband with cancer, a father in law with a brain tumor, same father in law in ICU on life support for 4 days and still in the hospital, but not on life support any more, a brother's divorce, a neice who almost cut her toe off... ummmm should I go on??? So, I NEED SOME MAGIC!!!!!
Let me be clear, I am NOT complaining... our year has been so full of blessings that they totally outweigh the bad stuff... however... I NEED SOME MAGIC ...and of course this trip is all about me!!! Just ask my husband!!!
He got his special "toys" so this will be my trip.
Not too long ago, he thought I was crazy for wanting to take a Disney trip. However, we were able to go to Dinsey with Make a Wish last March and his eyes were opened!! He saw the light!!! And now he is a Disney fan! Not nearly as much of one as I am, but a fan nonetheless!
So it is to Disney we will go! We decided on the dates because I will be out of school for 2 of the week days and will only have to take 2 days off and not 4. When we started talking about it, DH asked when I wanted to go (thinking in a year or two), and I said, how about January!! He actually said.. OK!!!
I have been so involved with medical stuff lately that it was only yesterday that I realized that I leave in three weeks and almost started to panic! What will I wear, when will I pack, who will watch the kids now that my FIL is in the hospital and can't watch them, did I make all the right plans, what if it is too cold, what if it is too hot... Whew!!! Then I realized that NONE of that mattered because I will be in Disney!!! And in case you are wondering, I will find something to wear by the time I leave!
So, are any of you the type that get out the suit cases 3 weeks ahead even though you will have to do laundry the night before to pack???
I did set aside some capris and shorts since we are not wearing those right now in North Carolina! BRRRR!
So the big discussion right now is do we do the Pirates and Princess Party?? There will be one going on one night while we are there. We don't even know if we can still get tickets, but I want your opinion. Have any of you been to one? Would it be fun for two grown ups who act about 12? Is it worth the money?
My other question is this. I want to do something special for my DH since he has been the perfect father and husband over the past year! (not that he wasn't before... but not all dads would attend EVERY single chemo appt for their child). So I was thinking of doing the 12 days of Disney countdown before we go. But I am drawing a blank. It can't be too expensive... I'm "disney poor"
but I want it to be fun! Also, I'd like to do something fun while we are at Disney. We are not the fancy dinner/romantic types... we are the fun loving, laugh a lot, and relaxed type.
Well, I feel like I have done nothing but ramble, so I hope that this does not leave you sleeping or scared
