Woohoo! It's Karen Annual December Trip to the World!

Awesome TR, I laughed, I cried. Okay, maybe I didn't cry. As for the painting of the castle (since I'm feeling too lazy to quote right now), I can relate. On my 13 birthday, I walked down Main Street towards the castle with that crane hovering over it. I wanted to scream:
YOU ARE SOOO NOT IN A CRANE OVER THE CASTLE ON MY BIRTHDAY! NO WAY! GET DOWN FROM THERE!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well. Goof4tink (a.k.a my mother) says I can come when I'm 15....I WANNA MEET DAVE MARX!!!!!!! You people have fun without me next year, because the year after that, I'm invading.....:scared1: princess:

Kelly, thanks for the reminder that things aren't always like they seem when you are on the outside looking in on a situation. Perspective on any situation is different for an active participant than it is for a passive viewer. I see now that what I was seeing and hearing from 20 feet away was not exactly what you were experiencing at your table.

And I'm sorry for not recognizing you. I've met hundreds of DISers and their families in the past four years and it's hard to recognize them all (although if you told me your user name, I would have known you right away).

Thanks for another wonderful trip report. I always enjoy your reports and can't wait for the next one.

thanks karen
no worries
i find eating out with him VERY stressful which is why we left
that was our worst night of the week but its tough, he was alittle loud at Yachtsmen but only 1 screech there I was mortified
i feel so awful for others around us and I hate to say it but we got more than our share of looks on our August 2006 trip but people realized something was just off and would start talking to us and then once people realize he is speech delayed they understand his behavior more

Its just so hard as the speech therapists say not to recognize the negative /bad behavior so when we react or overreact to the screeching it gets worse its like he thinks its a game so I can see where you would have thought we were doing nothing about it

Sorry if i came off as defensive, i just didnt want you to think I was sitting there thinking his behavior was Ok or acceptable in anyway

i understand your points and how it could look that way
perception is reality
as for my DH he didnt want to leave he is of the mind that Anthony needs to learn to handle things when they upset him and that I baby him to much
its touch and go for us the airplane to
I spend all 3 hours PRAYING he doesnt screeech, funny he the food places are where he struggles i think its cuz we dont go out to eat much at home so he isnt used it
I wish I had gone over and said hi I thought the jellyrolls meet was over so at first I was like is that Karen?
once again no worries and I am sorry about the noise :)
hopefully by August I will have him all caught up with his talking and the blood curdling screeching will stop ( imagine my house on a bad day :( )

Hi Kelly, thanks from me for reminding us to have a bit more sensitivity toward others. I was there, I also forgot to be a bit more sensitive. My apologies to you also.
But, heck....I was with one of the most recognizable DISers and you can't imagine how many people came up to her and introduced themselves. So....don't be shy in the future!! What's the worst that could happen??? someone could look at you like you were a crazed woman, talking about some DIZ thing!!! Hope the rest of your trip was a good one.
And BouncingTigger....if, and only if, those grades go up will you be going to MouseFest any time soon!!!!

Great TR Karen!!!!! Glad you had a wonderful time!...We'll meet up,eventually! It might be a couple of years tho!LOL

Paula

I'm sure that our paths will meet eventually, Paula. I look forward to reading your trip report.
