Yaaaaay! I got a letter from my soldier today! I think I must have been as excited to see her letter as our troops are at mail call. 
It must have taken quite awhile for the packages to reach her b/c she didn't get it until May 3. And she only mentions one package when I sent four - and the one she mentions is not the first one I sent! So I hope the others reach her too.
The package she received, I sent right after Baghdad fell. I included pics of the statue falling, grateful Iraqi's etc. She was very happy to get them and plans on adding them to her scrapbook.
A few comments from her letter:
"packages and mail are like gold down here"
"I'm happy to report that my entire unit will be returning home. Despite a few soldiers receiving minor injuries in combat, we are bringing everyone home."
"For the most part, the Iraqi people received us with grateful arms. The excitement in the children's faces will forever be in my memories."
Her unit is scheduled to return to their home base in Germany this month, after over 7 months in the desert.
It appears that she must have received a promotion out in the desert too. I sent my packages to First Lieutenant, and she signs "CPT". Assuming that means Captain?
