Woody Jesse and bullseye leaving celebration BBQ!

I kind of made myself hungry too!:rotfl: If they call me, I will go in and tell them how it's done!!:lmao: And I had planned on walking past the BBQ tomorrow to check it out and see it for myself , and see if I could catch a glimpse of Woody and Jesse (I haven't been there since they opened it this year)....but my plans got cancelled, so I will have to wait until Halloweentime and see what they have done with it by then and if they have managed to work in Woody's Halloween Round-Up to the layout!!

Yes, this little hole in the wall place called The Pig near here used to do big business, and critics and customers alike loved it. I think it relocated somewhere else. They had a lot of stuff on the menu - big, sloppy sandwiches, whole chickens, meals with a couple of pieces of chicken and some sides, combo platters with chicken and ribs, all sorts of side dishes, a few solid dessert options, pulled pork, all kinds of things. That typical menu formula can work for a BBQ restaurant at DLR too - they just have to invest the time and money into making it that way. What they have now is so limited.

Oh, you're not going to be able to go tomorrow? That's too bad. Hope you have a great b-day anyway! :goodvibes

My sister-in-law lives in LA and I think I heard her mention something about The Pig but we went to Oinkers instead. I think that was what it was called. It was good.

ohhh sounds promisin ...
shame we only have another 2years and 3month to wait

Well, maybe by that time they'll have the details worked out! :rotfl:

Other than some of the hotel restaurants, I don't think any of the restaurants in DL/DCA are "a la carte" are they? Even Blue Bayou--you can't order a partial meal--say just soup or the entree without soup/salad. Or Cafe Orleans--the closest would be you can order just a corn dog or hot dog at a counter service without chips/apples. Otherwise, Disney forces you to buy the entire meal. I doubt they would implement something different here. I can see them letting people order just dessert like they do at Blue Bayou.
Years ago it was a la carte, it was big thunder BBQ more of a counter service type with a fire pit.

OK, just got off the phone with a lead who was able to go over what they THINK will be happening. No characters, remain all you can eat, prices $9.99 for kids for both lunch and dinner, $19.99 lunch, $24.99 dinner for "adults", no drinks, drinks will most likely be $2.79 refillable, price is base price, so add tax and tip. No cuppies at this price, they will be a single cuppie of your choice, pricing is suspected to be $4. So, for an adult dinner with an iced tea, no discount, it will be $34.45 once tax/tip/drink added. So, about $1.50 savings.

Wow. $1.50 savings... folks totally got the "cheaper" price you wanted. Too bad a good location has to be killed for it.

Actually, I would have predicted that the location would have "died" without any changes at all too. The sentiments on this thread was that it was too expensive--especially in this economy. Disney's reaction was to lower the value (i.e., take away the characters) and make it seem like the price was lower (but as Malcon pointed out in her post, in actuality there is very little price difference). A few more people may be likely to try it now--thinking it's actually less expensive--but eventually they'll come to the same realization.

Perhaps Disney should have thought more about taking away the "all you can eat" concept and making it more an a la carte menu that people can afford. Plus, with the healthy initiatives in the park, not sure that an all you can eat is in line with that (although the food quality--for Disney--is good).

For the record--I think a lot of people on the Dis and other websites weren't really looking for changes. I went last Saturday (had been planned long ago and I looked forward to it) and was planning to go again in October. Assuming it is still open our group will probably do the October outing no matter the changes.

Ultimately, I think the site would do better keeping the characters and downgrading the menu--maybe only a choice of ribs or chicken or one plate. There was not much advertising of the site and I bet there were a LOT of people who didn't even know about this meal option.

(Also--Disney please bring back breakfast at Cafe Orleans!)

I didn't read all these posts yet, but I just made PS reservations today for the barbeque in early September and the CM on the phone called it a "character meal". I had no idea about the changes.....without reading all the posts until later, can someone summarize if there are any characters at it? I just NetFlixed Toy Story for my 3 year old so she would know who she was eating with!!

There are musicians and singers--Miss Chris, Tex Tumbleweed and someone else--but no recognizable "characters" like you would traditionally think of. Up until this week Woody, Jesse and Bullseye were at the meal and entertained along with the "humans"

The other musician is Sasparilla Sam.
I will truely miss seeing Woody, Jessie, & Bullseye @ the ranch! :guilty:
