Just checked out today from a long weekend at the Woodstock Inn in Vermont. Didn't stay on points because it made more sense to pay cash for this time of year. Great resort in a beautiful town. It was a little cold for skiing over the weekend (-30 wind chills) but everything else was great. If anyone is considering a concierge collection stay and has any questions, I'll help if I can.

Glad you had a good stay. I realize you did not stay on points, but am curious how much in advance you booked this long weekend. Were there ski facilities right there at the resort? I am sorry it was way too cold for skiing while you were there. Thanks!!

We booked the weekend about 1 1/2 months ago. Only Saturday was too cold for skiing. Swimming worked out just fine on that day. The Inn owns a small ski mountain (1000 foot vertical drop) a few miles away called Suicide Six. They have transportation to and from there. The Killington Gondola is about 10 miles away but well worth the short drive. By using the gondola you go to one of the least crowded areas of the mountain but have access to the whole thing. You can ski Killington all day and not do a trail more than once if you don't want to.

would you bring a family there in the summer?

Yes there is plenty to do for a family. They have a terrific golf course and there are plenty of historic sites in the area. I have to admit that we love Woodstock in the Fall and Winter the most. This was not our first trip to the Inn or will it be our last.

We went to Woodstock last summer over the 4th and had a good time. (Our boys are 6 & 12) It was a slow paced vacation. We went to the Billings Farm on the 4th and toured the original farmhouse, we went some of the glass blowing shops, played miniature golf, etc. We thought it was a bit slow and this was over the 4th when there were more activities. I think it depends on what you are used to and what you want. I would recommend it for families of very young kids or couples looking for quiet getaway. After we arrived, we went to the pool and we were the only ones there under the age of 60. It did change as the week went on, but it is a low key place. We really enjoyed it, but I came away thinking that it would be best as a couple in the Fall or with family during skiing. Beautiful grounds and resort.
