Wood Floor Cleaning

In my old house we had wood floors in every room. The house was built in the 1920's. Before we moved in (1993) we ripped out the wall to wall carpet, had the floors refinished. The company that did the work told me to dust mop and use a damp mop rarely (maybe once a year). When we moved 10 years later, the floors still looked great. This was even with a dog, me wearing dress shoes (heels) when getting ready for work (not recommended) , moving furniture around and a new baby!
