Oh Happy Day, Oh Happy Day!
Time to do the Happy Dance!
Got our Wonder cruise docs in the mail today and it is starting to feel like it's really going to happen! This is still a big SURPRISE for my DH and 9 yr DS, who only know we are going on vacation... plain and simple.
I have been planning on setting a TREASURE HUNT for DH and DS to do instead of just telling them where we are going. I made over an old cigar box and transformed it into a cool looking Pirates Treasure Chest. Inside I have put Disney Dollars and gold $1 coins, a Mickey Mouse Lanyard, a map of Castaway Cay (complete with burnt edges and rolled up), Disposable camera, Mickey Photo Album, Life-Savers candy, and a Postcard from Lilo and Stitch (thanks Verandah Man!) informing DS of the cruise adventure that awaits!! I even threw in some fish tank gravel (fresh, not used!) and sand to make it look more authentic.
I have made up 10 clues, that will take DH and DS all over the house, yard, and to the fishing pier on the lake across the street.... where that particular clue is in a bottle! To make it totally complete, I put the treasure chest in a cardboard box and then sealed the whole thing in a garbage bag. I am going to actually bury it in the front garden and have them carefully dig it up!! They will love it! I did initially think of putting the cruise docs in the treasure chest too, but got too worried that something HORRIBLE might happen to them so decided against it.
Can't wait for the fun to begin.... Bring it on!
