Woo Hoo! Just booked the GCV for August

I'm so excited!

My friend and I are going out to Disneyland to attend the D23 Expo and as she has never been to DL before so we are going out a few days early to enjoy the parks.

Own at BLT and AK so had to wait to 7 months out to book - so today was finally the day (we were looking for 4 nights starting Aug. 14th). Really was trying to book all 4 nights in studio but couldn't get it but then got the option that we could get all 4 nights in a 1 bedroom so we are going with it.

Very happy - really didn't think we'd get in for August with it being such a busy time.

Just had to share with people I knew would understand my happiness.

I wish I could give you real answer but as that is probably a busy time also I just don't know. The other thing I found out is that DVC does offer discount rates on DL hotel and PH but they couldn't tell me about those until the 7 months out either. No help. Someone else on here might know better than me but my best advise would be to book a room prior to have a ressie and then at 7 months out give a call. Never say never - you might have good luck.

I knew August is a busy time out there as I was just out there so I wasn't really holding out a whole lot of hope especially as my dates are fixed. I figured it was a long shot but with a standard view room at GCH going for $1876 for 4 nights (with AAA discount) figured it was a worth a shot. Didn't really want to spend all the points on a 1 bedroom but I was just so happy to find it available and I'm honestly really looking forward to it.

Nunzia - just 7 months until Expo - really looking forward to it! I believe that you and both went for the special package so that hopefully that will add to fun and make it an even more enjoyable experience. Now if they would just post some more info.

Did you also waitlist for a studio? For my reservation in July all I got was a 1br since that's what was available. I am also waitlisted for a studio so I can save my points for another trip.

Why are the DVC point rates so high for the GCV? A 1 bedroom for a week in late August is 388 points whereas in Florida you pay a lot less (as little as 199 at OKW or 206 at the Boardwalk for a standard view).

Is it a case of supply and demand ... and they charge that much because people will pay that much? Or is it a much better room/experience at the GCV, and paying almost twice as much as the BWV is appropriate?

It's all down to differences in the resort Quality and location. This resort is a different class to the other DVC resorts. We dont own at the resort but have stayed many times.

The location for the parks is even better than BLT, plus the quality of finishes at the resort is much higher.

Letitsnow - I did think about waitlisting the studio but decided against it. I actually have the points and as I'm going with my friend it will just give us a bit more room in the 1 bedroom plus the extra bathroom is definitely a plus when trying to get ready in the mornings.

LovinmyDisneylife - very cool that you were able to get a studio for your stay. We are going to move over to the Hilton on the 18th to be closer to the convention center during the Expo. This will be our first time attending the Expo so very excited!
