Please excuse any typos, I'm having a hard time concentrating with all the loud music and horn blowers :woohoo::cheer2:
I just sent my kids off for their first day of school. I love them dearly but its been a very loooonnngggg summer.
Who else went back today?

First day here too. The twins don't officially have to report until 11:00 this morning. They have just the freshmen in between now and then so they can run a modified schedule in the morning so the freshman can find their way around. The older kids come in at 11:00 have meetings until lunch, then they run a modified schedule this afternoon. DS15 went in early for band-they play the National Anthem and the school song for the mini-pepfest for the freshmen then help the directors get ready for our home band show this weekend. DD15 chose to sleep in and not go in early :lmao:.

Mine went back today and I'm especially happy because my youngest is starting Kindergarten :cool1:

Mommy is enjoying the silence :thumbsup2

First day of school is my favorite day of the year! :cool1:

This reminds me of the Staples ads that have run the past few years. I didn't see any this year though.

I love the peace and quiet. Just me, with the whole day in front of me. Lunch with a gf later, I'm even saving the grocery shopping until after school just to enjoy the day even more.

I didn't either, I love those commercials.

Nope I did not see it either this year. It is all about that easy button this year:lmao:

My two started last week (1st and 8th grade) yeah I definitely feel the full spectrum! :rotfl:

Although I'm not as happy as everyone else because I just hate the mornings when there is school I also hate the homework! Our mornings are insane trying to get the two girls ready and myself so that we can make the school bus and mom then heads off to work. The summer is so much calmer for mom!

I'm too excited to sleep!!!

:thumbsup2

I cannot wait to get my 13 year old's room cleaned (again). I cleaned it a month ago while he was at camp, and I think the gremlins went in and trashed it a couple of weeks ago.

However, I am not looking forward to the arguments about homework and no video games on a school day.

I need to check into the after school homework club. Even though I can help him out with homework, it would be easier if he did it all after school where actual teachers are there to help him. (I stink at math.)

Only 8 more minutes until good morning time for him!

I'm with you. Ours start tomorrow and I dread it. Dh is a teacher and he started today.

I hate the hours of morning routine. Older dd's bus comes at 6:40 am (but is wildly erratic, and may come anywhere from 6:25-6:55am). Younger dd's bus comes at 7:55. By the time I get to work, I feel like I've put in a full day.

The homework, I think I hate the homework more than anything. The amount the kids get is insane.

And the rush to get home, get dinner slapped on the table, help with the loathsome and worthless homework, get cleaned up and off to various activities, and then the push to get the kids to bed.

Uggh. Is it June yet?

Sorry, but as far as I am concerned, the first day of school is the saddest day of the year.

There's another thread for you. (Not kicking you out, just letting you know there is a thread going for parents who are sad about the first day :))

We actually start tomorrow! Can't wait here either. This is the first year for my kids that we start after Labor Day. Last year we started the end of July. This last month has been a killer for us. Just not used to this much free time and they are on each other's nerves. A little sad because my oldest is a senior, though.
