Sad to hear that. It sounds like it is a tough thing for you to give up. I have had a premium pass for almost 15-17 years now. I can't remember when I first got it. If you can swing the monthly payments you may want to rethink. We did monthly payments the first year it was offered. Worked great. Unfortunatly, or fortunately I guess, is we go to WDW on our DVC points for about 3 weeks out of the year. So since it is just the Wife and myself we have Premeir Passes now and those you cannot do a monthly payment on. I hope it can work out for you.

You can get a DLR Premium on a monthly payment, then pay the difference to upgrade it to the Premier.

I just got a new set of AP's. The cost is so high that I have to factor in at least three trips to make it worth our while. We'll see how our utilization goes this year. If we can't make it worth it, then this will be our last set too.

Do you get the DAP or PAP? A 3 day pass is $200 and a DAP is $379...so 2 3-day trips and you are good. We typically go for 5-6 days so the difference is less than a 2 day pass.

I'll have to consider that 6 Flags park. My kids are getting old enough might be a good option for summer fun.

If you're talking about the 6 Flags in Ventura just north of LA, be prepared for a whole different scnene. If you didn't know, 6 Flags has metal detecters when you enter (for a reason) and they also have a police command post there (for a reason). The crowd at 6 Flags over the last 10 years or so has really turned bad, especially during the summer times so don't think that it's going to be the same kind of pleasant expereince you get with DLR. You can do some searches and find gun shot news at 6 flags and gang violence so be aware. It's a fun park and I loved the rides when I went but the crowds have made it difficult to want to return.

I know, as a matter of fact I know someone who did this about a month ago. I might acctulay concider doing it, but since my pass expires 6 months before my wife, we can pay for each with no problem. Luckily I am paid very well to work this Sunday at my job. As a matter of fact my shift Sunday will pay for about half of the pass. Combine that with the Hanukkah money I usually get from family, in the long run it is not worth the headache my friend went through at DL to do the upgrade.

Amen to this statement. This is the reason I have not been to Magic Mountain in ages. I love the type of rides they have, but I am to worried about getting caught in the middle of some stupid gang crap or something. So untill they find a way to change the demographic I will not be going there anytime soon.

We're also re-thinking our AP. We're Premium and the kids are old enough to go on their own. Two have AP and two don't. DW and I go a few times a year for a few hours and really love it. Almost never go with the kids anymore. One with the AP is now a CM and doesn't need it anymore. We've had passes off and on for several years now. We've tried the Deluxe and just didn't like it. It seemed like every time we had time to go, it was blocked out.

Our passes expire in June and we renewed last time just before the last price hike.

I'm not sure where you are but if you're close enough to go to our 6 Flags my kids enjoy it during the summer months.

Honestly, it's like this at every 6 Flags I've been to...of course there aren't that many I've been to but..... Ours is not the one in the LA area and ours has metal detectors when you enter and they have a lot of security. Not a police command post but security. I've been to plenty of theme parks (there are a few quite close to us) but not one of them equals the pleasant experience you can get at DL. Heck, I've had negative experiences going to the Monterey Bay Aquarium! Some jerk was smoking, I started having trouble breathing (when I walked out the door because he was right there and smoke affects my breathing sometimes), DBF asked him to put it out (I had to walk through his cloud on my way out the door) and he started threatening us, with the kids right there!....oh and yes, even at DLR it happens, we had some really jerky people start an actual fistfight in the parking structure one night on our way out. It's not where you are, it's who else is there. At least that's my experience/feeling.

Actually I was thinking the Six Flags park that was being spoken of was great America in the bay area however and I realize you were talking about another one. Great America is no longer Six Flags park but that one is cheap at $55 for an annual pass.
