pirate: Last year we went and stayed at Universal's Royal Pacific Resort on their Concierge Level using an AP rate. We have stayed at the Portifino with a great view and honestly had a great time then using the Entertainment rate and quite honestly received a great rate during our stay which was in 2003 I think but it might have been a year before or after. LOL!!! The memory is the 1st thing to go!!! Now after having said that we did stay in Concierge at the RPH last Dec. for just 2 nights but I do have to add this and I swear to god I'm not lying!!!! We flew out on a late flight out of Nashville to stay at Universal before our stay at WDW and arrived at the RPH quite late which was about 11:30 PM on our 1st night's stay. We went down to a bar that was open, for the life of me I honestly cannot remember the name. For some reason I think it was called Joe's Bar and grill or something like that. Now here goes. I had drank a couple of beers and my wife was drinking diet coke when all of a sudden I looked up on the rock-wall and saw the BIGGEST RAT climbing down the column of rockwork right behind my wife's head!!!! I told her to come to me and she did because I didn't want to scare her and when she actually saw what I was talking about. she honestlt freaked out!!!! I reported this and was simply told that due to the water that this was a common occurance and there was nothing to worry about!!! Now after saying all of this I have to say that the Resort was very nice but we won't stay here again!!! Believe me I'm telling the TRUTH!!!!! Chip.

I must say that the only rodents I saw during any of my Orlando trips were at Disney, and they were all over. Big ears, big grins, and they wouldn't do anything about them :earboy2: . Something about being an icon or symbol or something :teeth:
As for the RPR, we stayed there twice and it was very clean and we loved it and will stay again.

And it took you a year to tell us about it?

With 6 years in a row @ RPR under our belts, I have to agree with Prince Eric.
We love the RPR!!!

pirate: The post I made about seeing a rat at the RPH does in no way mean that it isn't a beautiful resort. Quite honestly it was!!!!! As far as not posting , my wife and I are going back to Orlando in early Dec. of this year and staying at WDW. and I thought I'd post about our experience last year while staying at the RPH.. If the implication is that we really didn't stay there, it is not appreciated at all. Honestly, it's pretty lame on my part not to have posted this way before now!! There really isn't any excuse and that's all there is too it. I honestly think the resorts at Universal give Disney more than a run for their money especially with the perks. The Portifino is honestly our favorite because we've stayed there twice over the years with our now 2 teenagers and had a blast and in my opinion beats the Grand Floridian at WDW. hands down!!!!!. Belive me we've seen critters at WDW over the years but honestly have not seen them at the resort we've stayed in and believe me we've stayed at several. Now having said that I'm quite sure they have there fair share of critters too it's just that we have not seen them so up CLOSE!!!! Just thought I'd add. I really hope I didn't offend anyone!!! Happy Holidays, Chip@Janet.

If you think that's bad, wait'll you see the cockroaches!

Welcome to Florida>
:rotfl:

They are "Palmento" bugs...not cockroaches :rotfl2:

Actually, not exactly on topic, one of my kids favorite things was walking the pathways from the park to the resorts and seeing the little lizards running around. I didn't see any IN the RPR though, only on the pathway.

Every now and then you can catch one by the tail....they do bite, but it doesn't hurt. They will lose thier tails too...its fun....
