Won't be home for a year and a half.

Last week DW and I closed on 250 points at VWL. We sold back 125 points under the old $10 per point MB and banked the other 125 points. Does anyone know when we will get my permanent membership cards.

The bad news, we won't be able to get back to WDW until next fall. Hopefully, there will be a new addition to the family by then.

We hope to go home for the first time in October or November 2002. I hope the wait doesn't kill me or drive me crazy.

It's tough having to go that long before a visit! When I was laid off, we made no trips from Sept 96 till March 98. What hurt the most was that we had to cancel the December reservation that was already made.

Now we appreciate each trip that much more... and 4 days from now, we'll be home

After our trip this July/August, we aren't planning to return to WDW until 2003. This is the only way that we can accumulate enough points to do the 7-day Disney Magic cruise. My wife doesn't believe that we will be able to go a year without a WDW (or other Disney park) trip since we've been doing a Disney vacation annually since 1995. She's probably right, but I'm not sure (yet) how we're going to swing a 2002 WDW vacation. So I feel your pain.

We've been planning our upcoming December trip since last November! I am all planned out.

It will be tough, just get your daily dose of Disney by visiting the boards!

Don't know if I could go that long. I guess if I had to, I would.

I was just there in Feb and I'm going back in Sept. I'm not sure I can wait that long! I'm trying to find a good reason or way to get back sooner.

When we bought, we were able to sell back 100% of our 1st year's points. I knew it would be tough, but needed to do that to help with the finances. I swore that I would not ever borrow from the next year for any reason. Well, guess what, opportunities came up and I just could not help myself. We stayed at OKW in early April, going the end of June (both trips on borrowed points) and have already reserved Oct for Walts 100th Celebration--have to have those new pins). That only leaves me 58 points for Use Year starting Sep 2001. I am not planning on anything else--RIGHT--until I get into that new Use Year. I just could not help myself. I wish I could offer words of encouragement on waiting, but I would bet it will get the best of you and you will figure something out. Keep us posted on your willpower.

We haven't gone since April 2000. We bought into DVC on that stay and I became a disney addict.

We had reservations for memorial day weekend this year, but had to cancel due to a soon to be arriving baby boy. We now have reservations for December with my sister and her family.

So I know what you are going through.

Just cruise this site and dream of the next trip and the time will fly

Oh the wait will drive you bananas! That is the only downside of this whole thing! The wait in between going home!!!

You're in for a tough wait....

We joined in Aug. 2000 and aren't going "home" until Jan. 2002. We're more than halfway through but its killing us!

Funny how addictive going to WDW can become. Before we had points, I considered myself lucky to be able to go every 18 - 24 months. Since purchasing points, I have gone at least twice a year. Somehow, I am able to "justify" making it work. We leave in 7 days with the entire family and I can't wait!!! Good luck on the addition to the family as well.

WE received permanent cards 2 months after closing. WE were suposed to received cards for our adult kids and had to email member servcies to get them. This took about ten days more. This was last November.
