It's rumored that WDW management has decided to gut the inside of the WOL dome and that the space will be used for special events such as corporate meetings and private parties. Its also rumored that the murals inside of the dome will be removed/painted over. Body Wars and Cranium Commmand will remain but will be walled off from the dome area. Anyone have any additional info?

Well, its been seasonal for a long time now. But does Epcot REALLY need another convention center? There is that building on the way to World Showcase and then theres the original Image works, ( upstairs of Imagination) and now this LOL

I hope this is not true, I'm all for updating attractions that stay within the original concept of Epcot, not for shuttering attractions into a converted convention hall space.

Win by addition not subtraction.

I'm inclined to agree. I was hoping that they would bring over StormRider from DisneySea and create a weather pavillon

Oh yea, the old Odyessey restaurant. It was a great fast food stop on the way to world showcase................

I thought that a lot of that gutting had already happened?

They got rid of alot of the smaller things. The bikes with the movies, that interactive sports thing and some other things. They kept the movies, those rings that are hot/cold and some other things. It felt empty when I was there in November but it could made it seem more empty sense there were so little people in it.

I think they need to do something with that space. Otherwise it's just a waste. I don't really remember WOL, but there's no reason they can't update it and continue with that theme. OR I agree a weather pavillion would be interesting. Epcot is supposed to be educational and there is so much they could do. I understand Disney is trying to please everyone, but not everything needs to be a thrill ride. It's also too bad it seems like they need a corporate sponsor before they can do anything there. :sad2: :sad2:

Sorry about the rant...it just bothers me.:headache: :headache:

We saw WOL for the first time in Nov. It needed updating, but was still a good concept. Epcot needs more to do and not another convention center

A weather pavillion would be cool.

Wonders of life had some of the best attractions and some not so great attractions. I think it would be a great pavilion to have. Of course, if Metlife doesn't want to pay, then Disney really doesn't care what would be good for the park.

Just an update: It seems that WOL has been put on the fast track to be gutted. Disney plans to use the interior space as the welcome center and merchanside location for this year's Food & Wine Festival which begins on Sept 28.

Seems a bit off of the beaten path for that.
The problem is that the location in Innoventions which was used for the F&W Welcome Center was recently refurbished and now serves as a character greeting area. The Odyssey Restuarant is used for many of the cooking seminars so it can't be used for the welcome center. I'm also hearing that the WOL dome will be used for some of the wine tasting seminars.

Can we have a weather pavilian with a "Tornado - The Ride" simulation. Sort of what the inside of a tornado is like for bit of junk sucked up. That would let the edjucation area be there and gives another thril ride. Sponsers could be building companies that specialize in weather related materials.

Does anyone know if Disney shopped-around the pavillion to see if anyone else wanted to sponsor it, and actually put some $$ forward for a rehaul/retheme? Just curious.

So sad :sad1: We used to love going to the WOL because there was a lot of different things to do there.

What a waste of a great space!!! I too am curious if they bothered to find some other sponsors!?! Why take away something that's going to entertain, specially in peak seasons. That's just more people waiting in line for other attractions. Make another buildiing if you want to have a welcome center! Spend some money for a change! If the ride showed age then upgrade it! Why gut such a beautiful pavillion? What's next, gut the living seas to have more stroller parking! Sometimes I swear they do these things to make people mad! :furious:

O.K. I better stop before I before I lose myself and start typing French. :headache:

Guess nothing is coming true with the rumor that Dole or Nabisco was a rumored sponsor? Not that either have anything to do with life and health, but, what does Brawny have to do with an automotive stunt show?

I have been in the building a few times in the last few months and nothing is being "gutted." I don't know anything about the future plans, but as of a week or two ago everything is in tact.
