I have read alot on the boards that many values standard rooms are booked solid for the visa FD so I am wondering when the GP promo comes out will it be the same issue? We are currantly at ASMo but opened to upgrading to Mod if all values standard rooms are booked solid ( the difference of the regular dining upgrade and the prefered room and the moderate upgrade is $200). Which would you book? Extra info we are a family of 4 two boys 4 and 9 yrs old

I picked POFQ, because that is what we upgraded to. I like the look of it and the water slide looks fun. I have 2 kids they will be 7 and 5 when we go.

We too used to do value bjt once going mods, the lil extra money u pay is surely well worth it. 2 in particular i would recommend are CSR and POR. Do fhe math between value n mods you'll find that it's not all that much.

I am one of the ones that posted yesterday about the limited availabilty-the only value option I was given was AS sports which I wasn't thrilled with-we are POP devotees. However, this year my oldest becomes a disney adult, and with the larger charge to upgrade the DP (which is a given, I love the sit downs) and the new upgrade charges they have tacked on to POP (IE pool view charges) I ran the numbers and it was less than 100.00 for me to upgrade to a mod. We are currently booked for CBR, I think the kids will love the them but I am a little nervouse after some of the threads I have read so I might change that (again) to POR. Good luck deciding because the only thing I have decided is that I am firmly undecided.;)

I think ASSp is the last one I am interested in so if thats my choice for values its a no brainer Ill have to upgrade. I dont think I am interested at all in that resort (of course if it was my only option of course I would lol) The more I read on here the more I wanna upgrade! Plus my DH said if 200 is the only difference just go for it! I LOVE him lol!!!:lovestruc Keep voting I wanna know what everyone thinks so I can make an informed decision lol

For my family we are going to book POR because we have 3 adults and 2 children. For us you can't beat the price for a family of 5 with free regular dining. Can't wait till the promotion becomes available for free dining for the end of Feb 2013!!!

These are 2 of the best IMHO, in case u do choose Mods...

Let it be known that both times I went to these were during Jersey weeks in Nov.

CSR- Resort Grounds: The theming here is really nice. All 3 areas are unique to its section and very well maintained. A nice walk around the whole resort is roughly 15-20 minutes or so.

POR- Resort Grounds: The theming here is also very nice. Just a little different. Southern feel. Both gorgeous grounds though. I'd say just a tad longer to walk around the grounds, but a pleasant stroll again.

CSR- Rooms: Stayed in Casitas 4 which had renovated rooms & was a perfect location. Queen Size beds too.

POR- Rooms: Stayed in Magnolia Mansions. Also Beautifully redone, w/ queen size beds as well.

CSR- Pool The main Pool is awesome. Really nice slide. Plenty of lifeguards on duty. Never Ever, ever crowded. I think the most amount of people there while we stayed was maybe 20. The quieter pools are very nice too.

POR- Pool: This Pool Is very nice as well. Slide is just a tad smaller than CSR but equally nice. the pool always had plenty of people around , but never felt like overcrowded. You always had plenty of chaise loungers to sit at. a lot more kids it seemed too. quieter pools were just that very quiet..

CSR- Food Court: aka. pepper market. I know not many people like the idea of being escorted to you seat, but literally u wait maybe 5 secs, honestly. Never is it packed, the market itself has a nice array of food too. A small gratuity ( maybe $5 ) should cover your server.

POR- Food Court: Although the food selections here are awesome, the way it's set up is like the values. And yes the seating area is bigger, It was always busy, no matter what time of day. Mornings are Chaotic though. Worse lines here than the darn parks...LoL

CSR- Bus Service: The best hands down: Although there are multiple stops, It seems most people grab it at the main one, to go to the parks. Never di we wait for more than 1 bus which were sooo frequent. NEVER did we have to come close to standing either, Going to the parks or returning..

POR- Bus Service: This one was just Eh. Imho. At least heading out to the parks in the morning. I think we waited for an extra bus 3 days going to parks. Coming back from DTD we waited for 3 buses, & forget coming back from Fantasmic. That was like 7 buses... But when we do return, the west stop ( i think) was very close to our mansion, which was nice.
Also POR, Has the Boat ride to DTD, which is a pleasant ride & convenient.

I didn't eat at either of the 2 TS restaurants here, but have heard very good things about both. Also POFQ is just a smaller version of POR, but the New Orleans theming & closer feel, just didn't do it for me. Also the pool is a lil on the kiddish side. CBR I'm just not a big fan of. Layout, Theming, buses. The pool is good though. If I want to get a tropical theme ,then I'll go to the islands, not here. Thats just my $.02. Sorry. Don't mean to offend all of the CBR lovers

My suggestion, ( although its a hard one ) would probably got to CSR. It's a convention hotel , so it's never too crowded.

Either one you pick I'm sure you won't be disappointed.. Have a fun time choosing and once again...Sorry for Rambling here. LoL

Love the review of both! Thank you so much! I love the pool of CSR but my 9 yr old is concerned its not very disney. Did you get that feel? He thinks it seems like a regular hotel. :lmao: My dh voted for CSR he really likes the pool. Im so torn! No matter what Im in disney so Im happy either way lol!

I too was skeptical, about switching from the pop to mods...PoP is so in your face Disney that It engulfs you ..Which we love. So when we were thinking of the upgrade we weren't sure how to react with the mods not being so much in your face...To be honest, We can't go back now, & thanks to CSR we're hooked.
Like my PP stated I have it narrowed between POR & CSR. Just because the place is mexican themed, doesn't mean it doesn't scream Disney..On the contrary, it's just little subtleties that grab...Yes not so much in your face, never a crowd, FOR ANYTHING. & And I do mean evreything..Conventioneers around, but never did I get the feel that they came close to overwhelming us.We really didn't even know that they were around. I would Suggest a request in Cabanas 8A or Casitas 4. Both are excellent locations..Have fun & choose wisely..LoL

My twins love the pool at CSR. Until we go to BWV, I'm sure this one will remain on top......Oh.BTW...Reg. Hotel...No way

The only standard room we could get was CBR so that is where we are at. I was willing to pay for a Royal room at POR but could only do a standard but they didn't have that either. They did have a river view but I don't want to pay for something that I could care less about.

CBR is the only moderate we have not stayed at. I'm hoping on Monday more rooms open up and I can get my POR Royal room. If not here we come CBR and yeah to FD it saved us 1200.00.:woohoo:

Well thats definetely something to :cheer2: about. My only problem is CBR...I;m just not a big fan of that resort...Thats all..But It is Disney so Better there than none at all...Hopefully something else opens up 4 ya...Have fun..Oh..BTW I just saw you'll be down there when we are..Nice..

I picked POFQ as it is a small resort with refurbished rooms.

I LOVE POFQ because it brings back memorys from our honeymoon! :lovestruc Such a nice resort! Do we go back to that one or try something new? Either way im in disney so I am excited:banana:Im so anxious for monday!!!!

I would choose CBR. Your boys should love the main pool theme with zero entry. The grounds are beautiful and there are little beach areas for them to play and you guys and relax in the hamocks.

I know it's so hard to choose. I think the kids would love any moderate because they are kids and easy to please. If your hubby likes the looks of CSR maybe try that for his sake.

We did POP and then next trip I upgraded to Mod, CBR- which neither of us really liked. Didnt care for all the bus stops and such. Didnt feel it was really worth the difference in money. The FD promo that comes out on Monday doesnt apply to my dates ( unless they change it ) and I already have free QS but paid to upgrade to DDP and we are at POP again. It will be interesting because it has been 6 years now since we were there last so we will see how we feel after our trip. CSR seems nice but we are in Tucson so dont really need a SW theme . We stay at POFQ over 10 years ago and remember that it was okay ( my daughter was extremely sick so, my biggest memory is getting her transported to urgent care ). Anyway, if I could get free DDP at a MOD I would go with a royal room at POR if possible. We like being around as much Disney as we can. Also, it's just the two of us so, the savings isnt as multiplied as with larger families. I'm sure you will enjoy whichever you choose and I hope you get what you want. Have a great trip

We stayed at POP the last two years in August as part of FD and payed to upgrade to DDP. Last year I believe the price to upgrade was $22/day for 2A/2C. ($11 per adult and $0 Child).

We booked POP for August 2012 via Bounceback and waited until last week to upgrade to DDP. I believe that if I had upgraded to DDP when I originally made the reservation in Aug 2011 that it too would have cost $22/day. But, I only upgraded last week and was charged $39/day (the current price difference between QS and DDP). So, I decided that for $41/day more I would switch to POR - our favorite MOD resort. With the new DDP pricing, anyone booking a Value with DDP during FD should look at the option of moving to a MOD.

The last time we stayed at POR it was Dixie Landings.
