Wondering about opening time at the Plaza Inn

If the park opens officially at 9 am, is that when the Plaza Inn opens? Or do they serve breakfast prior to the park's opening?

We just got home last night. On Sunday, the park opened at 9:00 am and the Plaza Inn opened at 8:30 am. In fact, on Main Street at 8:45 they were announcing an invitation for people to come and eat. I am not sure how they were letting people in, though, as the end of Main Street was roped off. There must have been a CM up there to escort you to the restaurant. We ate there last Friday at 10:30 am, very few people, good food, and great character interaction.

Sherlee, thanks for the info. I was hoping they opened a little early. We'll check it out when we're there in a couple of weeks.

The rope drop is at the Hub and all of Main Street is open prior to the official opening of the Park. The Plaza Inn is on Main Street on the right, just before you get to the Hub. So I would guess that it would open (as would the rest of Main Street) in the neighborhood of 30 minutes prior to the park opening.

Hi Carrie,

We will be there in a couple of weeks as well! In the past, we have gotten into the Plaza Inn before rope drop... I think it opens as much as an hour before. I need to call DL and find out for sure.

That's weird - something must have changed 'cause the last times we have gone we could not get into the PI until the rope was dropped (and we asked)
I have never found it to be very crowded in the morning - too many people rushing by to get to the rides.
I LOVE the PI for breakfast - it is my favorite!!!!! A really great character breakfast!
:)

I agree. PI is as serene as character meals get. So much easier to wakeup to compared to the chaos at most others. Excellent character interaction and really easy to get to an from the buffet with no line.

It's perfect for the younger kids who can be apprehensive, if not terrified, of most characters.

We have a great picture of when Piglet sat down next to our DD with a full plate of bacon in front of her. Piglet signed her autograph book with a special message:

"P-P-P-P-P-Please don't eat bacon!" :cool1:

Thanks for all of the information. It sounds like the PI will be just right for us. I'm glad to hear that it's not as chaotic as most character meals especially since we have 2 little ones.

Uncle Buck, that message piglet signed for your daughter is too funny.

Joy or any others in the Sacramento area, have you ever visited the parks and then made the drive home the same day? We check out on Saturday. We were planning to visit the parks early in the morning and then leave about noon. We have a 5 year old and 2 year old and I'm wondering if it might be too long of a day for them or us.

We were there the first part of this month. I couldn't understand why some days you could go to PI before the park opened and others not until the park was open. I asked a cm and was told that if the park opens anytime after 8am you can be on Main Street and PI 1/2 early. If the park opens at 8, that means the turnstiles don't turn until 8am, no Main Street early or PI. This proved to be true on Sunday the 12th of October. We were in line to get in to DL and were not let thru the gates until the stroke of 8am.

I agree this is the BEST character breakfast. My 10yo DS who thinks he's 15 and sooo cool loved it! Eyeore and he had a running fight over DS's new Goofy beanie. Eyeore attempted to eat the beanie many times. Piglet sat with us for a good 15 minutes and wasn't happy about the bacon:D

Enjoy!
