Wondering about Boma...

Looking at Boma's menu has peeked our curiousity about trying it during our next Disney vacation. However, our only concern is that the food might be a too ethnic for us. Could someone please give me some feedback on this restaurant and your experiences there? Thanks!

although Boma is different, it is very enjoyable. They offer many different dishes to suite everyone's tastes. There is alot to choose from.

Not trying to be a naysayer here, but I didn't care for the food at Boma and neither did DH. It was a little too flavorful and somewhat spicy for our tastes.
BUT ... the service was great and AKL is so beautiful it was worth the trip.

The food is excellent, the location is beautiful, and the atmosphere is also very good (I'm running out of superlatives). It's one of my favorite restaurants at WDW, it's just too hard to get to. The time we spent a few nights at AKL we went to Boma three times. And my picky daughter was able to eat there and return again with no complaints.

We liked it a lot. With their bushman's pie and a few other African dishes, they also had pork loin and prime rib that were not overly seasoned. They also had enough vegetables to choose from. I did think that some of the African vegetables(especially the Irish/sweet potato mix) were somewhat bland.
Everyone we have recommended Boma to has enjoyed it.

I am a very picky eater, and loved Boma's for dinner. Lots of choices, different types of foods...take a little, try it, and go back for more if you liked it, if not try something different. You;ll never know unless you try it! If you're on the free dining plan...I'd say go for it, if you don't care for it pick up something else and pay out of pocket...it's better than having to pay full price in the future and find out you don't care for it. As far as anything goes on these boards, you'll find pros and cons for everything you ask about that is someone's opinion.....you have to try things for yourself and see if it's what you like!

Try it once. I have very picky eaters (hubby and kids) and they always CHOW DOWN at Boma. There is so much that you can stick to basics if everything else seems too funky... There is always a pretty simple chicken and beef that they can add the sauces to or not -- the chef is usually carving. There are always a lot of salads, fresh fruit, and various soups. Some of the soups are spicy and some are not. My favorite is the chicken corn chowder, made with cream. I would go to Boma just for that soup! There are also wonderful desserts, a big variety. Bottom line is that even picky eaters can usually find a few favorites to enjoy. It is also fun to try new things "no risk" because it is a buffet.

Gosh now I am HUNGRY!

Though my wife will eat a wide variety of foods my daughter and myself are the "picky eater" type. I'm your standard meat & potatoes type of guy, and the daughter is your typical 12 year old. Despite this our family finds Boma to be our favorite restaurant - period ! The prime rib is as tender and flavorful as filet mignon, the salmon is always delicious, and the desserts are so tempting. We also love the atmosphere of the restaurant and resort, and have always been quite pleased with the service. And the amazing thing is that all this can be had for the price of a Disney buffet !

Will you enjoy it ? I don't know. But I do know that the different polls about disney dining rate Boma among the top Disney restaurants, with about an %80 to %90 positive rating. For us, it's %100 ...
