Okay, I started the thread about lack of Personal Space, and also totally understand the one about needing to "get some sense", but I also had some AMAZING positive experiences with other people this trip and wanted to share some stories and remind everyone of all of the POSITIVE people we all encounter on our trips!
1. I think the greatest for us this trip was a family of Dad, Mom and DS around 8 or 9 yrs. old. On the bus to MK our first morning I was having trouble juggling my stroller (those darn old, brown seat buses!). I was actually holding it in my lap in the seat because the bus was so full. This family was standing next to us and Dad made space and offered to take the stroller and hold it for me.
I actually told him no because by then I was wedged in and it would have been more difficult to move at that point!
Flash forward 10 hours and we were seated at CP for dinner that night. A family was seated at the table right next to us, and I kept thinking they looked familiar, but couldn't place them. As we were finishing the Mom finally leans over and says "Did everything go okay with your stroller this morning?"--It was the bus family! We began chatting and probably talked for about 30 min. Then we were comparing notes about the rest of our plans and found out they were going to the same Poly Luau show the next night!
I didn't see them the entire time at the Luau until we were leaving. They came up to us and said they were actually seated at the very end of our row of tables (we were in front)! IASW!!!! We again talked for about 15 min. as our kids got autographs from the Fire Guy. This was their last night there and the beginning of our trip so we didn't see them again. But it was so neat to see one family 3 times in such a big place. They were so great to talk to.
2. While moving in line at MGM for the Narnia show I passed a woman on the "zig zag" that I thought I recognized. I pulled my kids to side to wait for her and as she came in I said "Are you Sabrina?". Sure enough! Every year I attend a weekend retreat crop and she is one of the other's that always goes. This year the crop began the day after our trip ended and I had to make the decision of Disney or Scrapbooking. She also had to make the same choice. What are the odds of running into each other while at Disney??? We didn't get a chance to talk since the crowd started moving and we were seperated, but it was really funny to see her!
3. ALL THE GREAT DISERS we met! The funny thing was I think we saw most of them on Sunday at MGM!!! There were also 3 Dissers out of the 6 people in line for the Disney Visa Character Greet at Epcot. I lost count of how many--probably around 10 or 15 that we said Hi to (no focking though!), and 3 or 4 more that we saw but were unable to catch up to in order to say Hi. It was so nice to talk with them, even if just to exchage screen names. Lots of lurkers, that still had Mickey Heads, or just wanted to say Hi because they saw mine. I wish I could remember all of them, but many had screen names that were "complicated!"
Lots of letters and numbers! If you saw me please PM me or respond to this thread so I can remember your names!
I do remember meeting Kingdom Hearts Fan, and recognized him from his siggy photo, and met his friend later that night waiting for the bus. I am pretty sure that I SAW Triplefigs while we were waiting for the the Norway Princess meal, but there were to many people between us for me to come up and say Hi. And if the great woman I talked with on the bus back from MGM sees this--please do PM me--I had the greatest time talking with you!
4. The wonderful CM's! Some went out of their way to be great, some were just doing a great job. I even met one that is a DISer! I can't remebmer one bad one (oh wait, just remembered one, but I will let that pass!). I even left a CM compliment at the Poly for one guy at the gift shop that was awesome! Without them we couldn't have the great time we do at WDW. I know that they are very understaffed right now and many of them are working some horrendously long hours and weeks to fill in the spaces, yet they still have a smile on their face and are willing to answer the same question 100's of times without screaming! I know I could never do what they do.
5. And finally, just all the great people that I chatted with on the buses to and from the parks, or waiting in lines (for food and buses--no lines for the rides!
) There was an older man one day that is DVC and was telling me all about how they love WDW so much they bring different family members several times a year. It was so great to see that you don't have to DIS to be addicted! Several young couples with children, some there for the first time, some had been before. It is great to share stories, favorites, give and get advice or help, hear their recommendations, and just laugh and pass the time together. It is so great to meet others from all over the country and sometimes the world and share this love of Disney!
Yes we all get hot, tired and cranky at Disney, and we can experience some of the rudest, most obnoxious and annoying people that can really ruin some of our experiences. But looking back I can think of WAY MORE positive people and encounters than I can the negative ones. The negatives tend to stick with us more, but we need to remember the postives to remind us why WDW is such a great place, and so much more than just rides, shows and restaurants!
