Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Our cruise is paid in full now and tonight at 9:00 pm Pacific time I get to make the dining reservations for the first part of our post cruise DisneyWorld stay.:surfweb: We are staying in the Boardwalk Villas for the first few days, on the wait-list for Beach club.

Feels closer when I can check stuff off the list :cool1: Now I need to start looking at port excursions :boat:

Sweet! I'm only two hundred from paying mine off.

Just booked Le Cellier Steakhouse for our first night at WDW. Does anybody know when we will be able to get tickets for Mickeys not so scary Halloween Party.

Yes, historically party tickets for both parties go on sale 1 May

So my mom booked the August 30th 2014 Disney Magic Med. cruise this week. I was the one that figured out the reservation. The lady on the phone was like "do you want to add yourself to this cruise?" And I had to stop, laugh, and said "I don't think my boss would be okay if I took a month off. I'm already going on the Panama Canal Wonder trip a week later." I really struggled saying that.

Do any of you create those amazing door signs for the cruise? I had someone from the Dis create me some but I can't get them to print right and now she's gone. Said something about someone selling her designs on ebay. I was able to print the Tigger face she made me that I can cut out and place around the room number but I want the others as well.:sad2:

There is a Disney Graphics FB page; Beverly Gustafson is one of the administrators.

Hi

My wife, Rachel & I, will be on this cruise as well. It has taken me a long time to catch up with both threads, reading each post! It has been worth it, though. Loving the enthusiasm and some of the shared ideas.

This will be our fourth DCL cruise, and they've all been on the Wonder so far! The first was for our honeymoon, the second for our vow renewal (10 years later, and both were 4-night Bahamas) and the third was to Alaska last year, which is when we booked this one :-).

Already booked next year's as well - the 12-night Northern Europe on the Magic, so it will be interesting to see the differences between the ships.

Bon Voyage everyone!

Philip

I forgot to mention that we're flying into SD on the Tuesday so that we've got a couple of days to try and adjust to the jet lag (flying from the UK) so that we get the most out of the cruise.

We've also got a couple of days at the end of the cruise. We were initially thinking of Epcot for Food & Wine and Studios '*** we love that park so much and also because we were going to stay at the Boardwalk or one of the other hotels in that area, so Epcot & Studios are the easiest to get to.

I must say, though, that the idea of doing MNSSHP on the Friday night sounds like a nice idea. Tried to do that last time we were at WDW (for the vow renewal) but the dates didn't line up for us.

Flying home on the Sunday so need to think carefully about the choices and the cost :-).

On a different topic, I'm very interested in seeing what people's thoughts are for the various ports of call and excursions. We want to see historical and local places of interest, rather than going to the beach, drinking or an activity.

I'll be honest - I'm also a bit leery about the possibility of poor food. We've both had a bad experience while staying in Mexico and I have *no* desire to repeat that and have the rest of our cruise spoilt. I still suffer from a small intolerance to dairy as a result.

Hopefully there are some people with great ideas out there ... :-)

Susan, click on the link below for some GREAT Disney graphics. Like Maria said, Beverly Gustafsson is one of the designers I believe. The graphics are FANTASTIC!!!

I would like to :welcome::welcome::welcome: you Philip and wife Rachel to the cruise. This is going to be one Fantastic cruise for all of us. So glad ya'll are joining us. We are going to have so much fun. Again, welcome aboard!!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Since my DW and I live in Florida, we have been to the MNSSHP a couple of times. This is one event you should not miss if you get the chance to see it. And, I hope you do. Go on line and check the dates to see if they match up when we get into Port Canaveral and be sure to purchase your tickets ahead of time. This is a popular event and tickets go fast.

My wife and I are like you guys. We enjoy seeing the historical and local interests of the ports as well. Since we live in Florida we have access to some great beaches just outside our front door. (Not literally, of course!!) So the beach scene really doesn't interest us either. My wife has been to Mexico a couple of different times for job related trips. But she never really got to see much of the country. This will be my first time there. We are reading the descriptions of the different excursions Disney offers and deciding which one we both would enjoy doing while in that port. We are still in that reading and trying to decide part of the decision making process.

We are flying in to SD on the 10th, we hope to go to Sea World and maybe the zoo, although just being in the beautiful sun would be enough for me. Our youngest son will be meeting us at at DW after the cruise, we are staying at the Boardwalk Villas. Looking forward to both the cruise and Disney, can't get here soon enough

I know you will enjoy whatever you decide to do, have fun planning :yay:

Welcome!

I think my group is looking at a beach day in Mexico (Pacific side), possibly going for sushi in Cabo, then my grandparents (who have done the Panama Canal cruises many of times on different boats) told me that being "a young woman in a foreign country with violence" I needed to do an excursion and not be "wandering around the city," and then in Cozumel... I really want to go to temple/synagogue and then have margaritas in the square. Cozumel has this really interesting dichotomy of having I think the highest Jewish population post-WW2 in Mexico and Mexico is known for being Catholic. So you have these two faiths combining in really pretty architecture and I find that whole concept really interesting.

I had a terrible dream last night. Amtrack was closed the morning we were taking it to San Diego and we could not find any other way to get to the port and missed the cruise. It was really scary!! This is one dream I hope does not come true.

I guess the moral here is to have a "plan B"!! I wouldn't worry a lot - Amtrak doesn't usually strike!

Oh no! I usually have my "Disney Disaster" dreams before a trip or cruise…but this is a little early for me…mine will start mid August I'm thinking!

Welcome! Glad you're joining us. As you read through these posts, I'm sure you saw that many of us are on the same travel schedule as you. some if us will be at Disneyland first (it's a 2 hr train from San Diego) and going to WDW after the cruise. We just booked dining for the Sept. dates and will very likely go to MNSSHP as well. Looking forward to meeting you.
