Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

We plan to do laundry as well. The passage through the canal last time (August) it was 98 degrees with high high humidity!

I'm soooo dreaming about some warm weather now. Sooooo over the snow this year.

Shorts and tanks here as well with a couple t-shirts. Most of my luggage will be for formal/semi formal/pirate/dinner nights. Even if it is allowed now, I just cannot wear shorts to the dining room for dinner. For 1 thing its usually cold in the theater and dining room so I want more covered. ;)

I'm so over winter myself. Had sleet and snow again last night just not enough to cancel school again. Looking way forward to sun, sand, and fun.

I agree, I don't want to wear shorts and tees to dinner. I like a little more coverage and I also like to get a little prettied up too! ;)

We got 8"…so done with this winter! Is it September yet??? Also waiting a little impatiently for the rest of 2015 to be released! Disney is missing prime booking time….with all this snow, people would LOVE to be dreaming about cruises, etc!! LOL!

Oddly enough we have perfect sunny skies (no clouds in the sky at all), and I have to work tonight. I am wearing sandals to my nutritionist appointment.

I wear skirts and dresses to dinner too. I am a fan of dressing up because in my normal day to day life I don't.

Not sure if it has been previously mentioned but you can order a commerative certificate of your transiting through the Panama Canal. There are probably a variety of vendors out there but we used Tiffany Publishing on our WBPC cruise a couple of years ago. The certificates run either 11 or 21 dollars depending on if you want them to customize them. We get the $11 blank one and caligraphy the names, date and ship rather than having them customize it.

You can get the Captain of the Wonder to sign it when he has the "captain's signing" event.

Google "Order of the Ditch Certificate" for the link

See you all in September!

Maria, Donna and I would be interested in meeting for a meal or drink at DL on either date. We've never been to Disneyland so we are open to any suggestions anyone has for a nice place to meet. :thumbsup2

DW and I would also be willing to meet for drinks either night. We also have never been to DL and would probably enjoy meeting some people who know it. We managed to get a 2 bedroom suite at the GC for nigts of the 8 - 11. Will have DS, DIL, and 2 GC staying with. They will return home on the morning of the 12th while we head south to SD.

Hoping this will spark some interest: from a cruise before: :drinking1

Good Morning EBPC Cruisers;
I was on a past cruise where we had a “Beer Exchange” and was “Wonder”ing [pun, yes ;-)] if there would be any interest on this cruise.

How it works: surfweb:
1)You bring either as six pack/ of 12 pack of your home town’s beer/ and very special beer or just your favorite. What we do ask, please don’t bring a beer that we can get anywhere, or on the ship.
2)What you bring to the exchange [number of beers] is what you take with you
3)We will do it one beer at a time until all the beers are gone. Remember what you bring it what you take, only fare to all.
4)Time: was thinking 3:00 ~ 3:15 day of embarkation [right before the safety drill] or if this is a bad time, the next day is the 1st day at sea….11:00ish???
5)We will be the host for this, besides I will be a great time to meet people and to see old friends

Any interest???

Donna and I agree with ya'll. Even thought Disney has relaxed their policy for dinner dress, we too will be wearing what they used to call it "Cruise Casual." We don't feel right going to dinner with all you "Wonder-Ful" people in shorts and tee's. We like to get all gussed up too!!! Besides, I look more purtier............errrrrraahhhhhhhhhhh..............I mean handsome..............yeah that's it handsome................all slickered up!!!

Thanks Smith2625 for this information.:thumbsup2 Going to check this out.

Great! I've messaged you some info!

I have had a few requests for my packing lists...they are in an excel workbook, so I can't really post here...PM me an email address if you are interested and I will send them along.

I have lists for 23, 25 & 32 day trips. Most include cooler weather clothing. We have NOT finalized our list for this trip as it will be all warm weather clothing. So, the list will be shorter. We are not planning to do laundry (or send it out).

As a caveat - we are able to share some clothing, so the list seems short it is because we share shorts, capri and all tops.

We do love shoes - so there will be at least 5 pair each, we can't share shoes :( (we often put them in carry on to make it easier!)

The game plan for now - check two large bags and carry one onboard the plane - switch stuff around to the two large bags to board the ship and carry the adult beverages in the carryon bag onto the Wonder. Once in Fla - repack as needed and check all three to come home - carry nothing hopefully!!!

I'd be interested in the beer thing, but flying with beer is my concern. So while it sounds rad.... I doubt I can do it (plus I'd love to take home beer to my favorite home brewer, and he's in Anacortes, WA so flying with beer both ways.)

so….here I am with a dilemma. When DH bought our return plane tickets, he apparently had a brain malfunction or a seizure or complete and utter freeze…and bought our tickets at a good price….on SATURDAY. Because that is the day we ALWAYS come home from a cruise! :faint:

So..it will cost $207 EACH to change the flight to Friday, the date we ACTUALLY dock.
Now, do have 18 DVC points that will expire and I can get a studio at Saratoga for 15 for the one night. However, a park ticket will cost $200 for both, unless we get park hoppers, then its $260 or so. then add food….it's about break even. Or a little more for the Disney option.

So, do I book us into SSR and head to Epcot for a little while then over to MK, or do I do EPCOT and bypass MK (hard for me to NOT go see the castle, just saying') Go to MK, skip EPCOT (F&W, amiright?). ;)

Or do I suck it up and change the flight to Friday as it was originally supposed to be and pay the $414? :scared1:

I think I know what y'all would say….::yes::

(So…anyone else staying at SSR post-cruise?)
:rotfl:

No brainer, check out the new Mine train ride. I'd do that but I'll be missing my kids so badly after two weeks that I wouldn't be able to enjoy myself.

I had a brain freeze when I booked our return flight. I booked for Thursday (what???). Thank goodness I noticed it right away and was able to switch to Friday with no extra charge.
I would stay at SSR and go to Epcot and also go see the castle. :)

Epcot. Food and Wine Festival will be on.

Or you go go to the Disney hotel and then hang out at Downtown Disney, or that is just me. I have no super desire to go to the parks after I cruise. I don't like crowds.

IMHO you should make it a true K2K!! Stay and enjoy the parks. We will be off the ship by 8am, so you will really have all day Friday as well. Enjoy F&W and MK as well!

Stephanie, Stephanie, Stephanie.........................DUDE..................er DUDETTE..................this is a no brainer..........use your DVC points, stay at SSR for the night, and for the day, go to MK and ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Ride, like a gazillion times, enjoy the castle, have you and Dave's picture taken with the castle, then head on over to EPCOT for the rest of the day and enjoy the F&W Festival, drink and eat to your heart's content!!! Is this not like the bestist plan you've ever heard!!!:cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

We are heading over to WDW next month for the Flower Festival at EPCOT. We go every year. We both enjoy seeing all the flowers and seeing EPCOT all dressed up in bright colors.
