Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Villas at Wilderness Lodge. Awesome DVC resort. It's back behind the Wilderness Lodge. One of our faves!!
Thanks! I guess I just always write it as WLV so guess I was confused. In fact, for our family reunion in April, I reserved a condo at that Wilderness Lodge Villas for my daughter and son-in-law. They didn't really want to stay at the campground but this is pretty darn close. Thanks again!

Maria, Donna and I would be interested in meeting for a meal or drink at DL on either date. We've never been to Disneyland so we are open to any suggestions anyone has for a nice place to meet. :thumbsup2
I haven't been to Disneyland in 13 years. I know a lot has changed since then. If anybody else on the boards has any ideas or suggestions, that would be great. In the meantime, I will do a little research ; also regarding the carpooling and travel, I got your message and I will get back with you on that.

There's a bar in the Grand Californian I love. I don't know if it's still there, Hearthstone lounge. Love it. It's warm and cozy. I wrote a lot there.

It's been a couple of years for us too, but a good meal in a relaxed atmosphere ... Blue Bayou. It's not loud like some restaurants can be and it's fun to watch the boats for PoC sailing by.

New Years Eve like 7 years ago (?) my friend and I were at Blue Bayou for dinner. We had these awesome plans about Disneyland on NYE... It was really crowded. But I was at the Blue Bayou waiting area and it was jammed packed and this guy backs up into me standing there for like 10 minutes. I noticed a plaid vest next to him, and I was like "what's with that?" As my friend and I got seated, she was like "I didn't want to freak you out or have you move, but you were standing next to James Franco." 10 minutes butt to butt with James Franco, my co-star in "Spiderman" (the first one. I was an extra in that movie. So yes, he's my co-star.). We shared butt cooties, co-stars and butt cooties, that's the name of my memoirs. (Sorry I'm incredibly nerdy when it comes to my fun Disneyland stories.)....

For me Blue Bayou was always really crowded and the food was eh.

If you want Blue Bayou you better make reservations ASAP. There is usually a long wait list for that one!

ATTENTION- Disneyland area to San Diego prospective 'car-poolers.' I have been searching and reviewing car rentals and shuttle services and other options. I haven't been thrilled with what I have found- until now. On the carpool list, we only have one volunteer driver - or volunteered driver- my spouse and we have 14 people plus luggage. Even the largest , non- commercial , passenger can cannot fit all of us. LIGHTBULB!!!! AMTRAK!!! All trains after 9:00 am take checked luggage as long as you check in 45 minutes prior to departure. The 9:08 train arrives 11:20. Here is the best- Business Class reserved seats FOR 2 is only $84.00! You can also get an unreserved coach seat for $56.00. Personally, I'd like to know that I definitely have a seat. The cost is comparable to the per person cost of a car rental, although we will need to make our own way to /from the stations. I am loving this idea. THOUGHTS? Thanks Kim- it was the Amtrak add on the FB Buzzfeed post that got me looking!

Bob and I think this is a great idea! How far is it to the train station?

Bob and I would love to meet up for dinner or drinks. We have never been to Disneyland so have no idea where a good place would be.

Less than 5 mi from DL to Anaheim station( less than 2 from San Diego station to port. I'm going to call Amtrak to see if we can be in the same car even though we'll make separate reservations. I'm really excited about this. I think adding the train will be fun!

As far as a meet up: Reservations can't be made until 60 days out for restaurants in DL, so we'll do some research and plan something for Wed. or Thursday prior to the cruise.

Being in the same care would be fun! We can start our cruise early :).

The last Disney cruise we went on those of us on Disboards all decided on wearing name tags at check-in & sail-away party so we could recognize each other. We all had the Disney paint color chips (Mickey Heads) in bright green with our screen name & real name & hometown on them. It was really great because they stand out and it was easy to spot fellow Disboard members. Any thoughts??? :confused3:scratchin
Sounds like a great idea. I think I read they do a couple of different Panama t-shirts on the cruise so don't feel we need another.

Well, we are awaiting another 'fun' winter blast. :(
Rain to sleet with about 1/4 - 1/2 inch ice accumulation followed by either 6 - 10 or 8 - 12 inches of snow.
When did we move to the frozen north?...

We never got anny winter the one place where they tell us if were having a heatwave or a cold wave did not even had a minus temp this winter

We hit 85 yesterday; today we started at 32° and we have been dropping steadily all day~ expecting morning temps of low 20s!!! We have officially decided this is MARCH MADNESS!

Our weather has been weird. We are yesterday it hailed, then snowed, then last night just misty rain. Today it's gray. Whatever. I'm good with gray. I'm wearing neon.

I'm kinda' bummed that you guys are going Anaheim to San Diego via train. If I didn't have best friend time (!!!!) and Miguel Junior time (!!!!) and Pinkberry time (!!!!), I'd so go. Did I tell you guys how excited I am to see my best friend? Only a little... haven't seen her in, 2 years?

I think best friend time, especially one you haven't shared time with I two years trumps a train ride! ;)

Some of us can't even go to DL...too much time off in one shot!

 We are booked at the Villa's at Boardwalk and the Villa's at The Grand Floridian!! So excited :yay: And our youngest son, Tim, is going to be able to join us for the whole time in Florida, it will be great to see him after being apart for six months :woohoo:
