Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

Thanks Maria for the tips.

Got another question for all. (Toldja, DW Is thinking all of the time.) We have those TSA locks for your luggage. Do you lock your luggage? We just bought the locks, never used them yet. So do you use them for flying and cruising? Or just flying or just cruising? :confused3

ALWAYS lock...we use tie wraps. A lot less expensive when the TSA can't find their key and end up cutting the lock off.

Thanks Maria, I have singed us up for the FE exchange and the FaceBook page, and the group meals. Brad loves to talk so he would get bored with me very quickly, lol. We can't wait to get to know everyone here before the cruise.

We have booked on this cruise now too. It will be me, Becky, and my husband Brad. Our boys are grown now, one married and the last one will move out in March. This will be our first cruise without the kids. We are looking forward to so many days at sea. I LOVE sitting by the pool, soaking in sun, and reading a good book :)

Looking forward to getting to know everyone here so we don't feel so alone on board, lol.

I too would like to :welcome::welcome::welcome: bbkeough, (Brad & Becky), to the cruise. So glad ya'll are joining us on board the Wonder. We are going to have such a GREAT time on board the ship. Agai, welcome aboard!!!:cool1::banana::banana::banana:

We are flying in on the 10th too, get in around 10:00 am. We would love to go to the zoo too!!

We will be flying to San Diego on Sept. 10, 2014 for 2 reasons:

1) I want to visit the zoo since the last time I was there was 1987 and

2) I just can't fathom flying across the country on Sept 11. I know that is probably the safest day to fly but the thought just makes me uneasy. ::yes::

Thanks, we can't wait for the cruise and are excited to get to know new friends here before we even get to the Wonder.

How do you reply to a message and have it post with that message instead of at the very end? I keep messing this up :crazy2:

look for the brackets with square edges like this: [ and the word QUOTE...the first one is the beginning of the post, the second is the end. If you have multiple posts (by clicking the middle button at the bottom of the post you want to answer) you can answer each post by pressing return a couple of times after the closing bracket "]" and the moving onto the next post - I hope I am not confusing the issue for you!

I was on the September 2013 Panama Canal cruise and we had a great time! Better than I expected!! So I'm sure you will all have a blast! I did not do a trip report but I just finished my photobook. We were two couples traveling without kids (empty nesters cruising!), we did DCL excursions, not many evening shows as we should have and spent a lot of time relaxing and enjoying the ship. I'm not sure if the link will work but here is the photobook; I'm happy to answer questions.

Awesome job! Thanks for sharing. Do you mind me asking what the cost of your photobook was?

Wow, I love your photo book. What a great idea. I used to scrapbook, but it just takes so much time. Was the book fairly easy to do? You did a great job at showing all aspects of the cruise and ports, I will have to try your idea of laying down on deck to take a picture, loved it!!

We are on deck 2 this time, we usually get a balcony but opted to not spend the extra money this time. Did you like your cabin there? I can not wait to go, it is going to be so much fun. I am hoping we adjust quickly to being on vacation without our boys. I am sure getting a chance to meet all of you guys from here will help :)

Welcome. We took our first "empty nest" cruise several years ago; it took some adjusting because we always traveled with our kids but really liking it now! Assuming we can find chairs in the sun, reading poolside is where spouse and I usually are during the day. Check out page one for lists and sign up sheets for fish extender, group meals, car pools, etc. Again, welcome!

Thanks for the nice welcome Maria!!I am sure we will adjust okay, it just feels weird after so many years of always traveling with the boys. But we are on to the next phase of our lives, which will hopefully mean much more traveling
I am hoping that finding chairs in the sun is pretty easy, that is my all time favorite thing to do. I read on a PC trip report that there were not as many kids so the Goofy pool was not crowded at all. Maybe it will be that way on our cruise too :beach: They said the chairs by the adult pool were taken by 6:30 am, I do not get up that early on vacation.

I did sign up for group meals, I think, lol and for the FE's too!! It will be fun to get to know each a lot of people here before we get to the Wonder.

The last Disney cruise we went on those of us on Disboards all decided on wearing name tags at check-in & sail-away party so we could recognize each other. We all had the Disney paint color chips (Mickey Heads) in bright green with our screen name & real name & hometown on them. It was really great because they stand out and it was easy to spot fellow Disboard members. Any thoughts??? :confused3:scratchin

Sounds like a good idea to me. We have so much time to "get to know each other" here, but when we get there we will not recognize each other. :cool1: So we would just walk on by...

I was on the first Panama cruise in 2005, the lack of kids had the counslers complaining of boredom! When ever there is a longer cruise during the school year the number of kids is much lower. It must be hard to pull kids out for that long a time and to keep up with the lessons.

However, there are also a larger number of adults because of the lack of kids! Finding deck chairs is never really an issue - if you can't find any on deck 9, go up to deck 10! Folks seem to forget that there are chairs up there as well.

This ship has the Outlook Cafe, a very nice coffee area on deck 10 as well.

When I was last on the Wonder (2011) it was a very nice low kid cruise - we are hoping for the same on this cruise. Be sure to watch the navigator for special events, and also be sure to watch for the special entertainment and menues!

If they are true to pattern - there will be 2 formal nights, 1 semi formal night, 1 midnight dessert buffet, pirate night, and at least 2 special entertainment acts.

Looking forward to meeting folks!!

Cayla

Two things:

1.) If I am doing the meet I can make "ID tags" for members. All I would have to do is play with my cricut. I have neon paper that I can cut out Mickey heads. When we get there we can put our Disboards name and real name? Maybe room number?

2.) I bought shorts for the cruise. I was told that you shouldn't wear jeans on this cruise because of the heat and humidity (and I live in Western Washington where it's 80 as the high- and we're all dying of heat). So I got these itty bitty plaid shorts that don't make my legs look super pale. But the big accomplishment? SIZE 14! And they're loose!:yay: Thought y'all would laugh. So I'm looking at a few smaller outfits.
