Dh and I have said for years, wonder why they don't have a upper scale steak and seafood restaurant in America?

Is it because of all of the other restaurants out there that are similar?

It would be nice to see a yummier representation of our country - :teeth: .

Oh and we love the funnel cakes! :Pinkbounc

just a thought and wondered if anybody else had thought this too.

I guess many foreign visitors equate fast food with American eating habits.

But, yeah, we've wondered the same thing. One poster a while back suggested a restaurant featuring regional specialties from around the nation, and I thought that was pretty cool.

I think you'd need to keep the Liberty Inn in the mix as it stands, because there's not really a burger option in World Showcase otherwise for picky eaters. So I'm not sure where a new restaurant would be located.

There is upscale American dining available at many other WDW restaurants, so I suspect there was no need to put yet-another one in the World Showcase, where the focus is specifically on international options. Indeed, Coral Reef, right there in Epcot, is a wonderful, upscale restaurant serving substantially American and New American cuisine.

On a guided tour of Epcot years ago, this question was addressed to the CM. We were told that there is no "typical" American food. The country is so large that each area has it's own cuisine. It's not feasible to have one restaurant with chefs that specialize in New England fare, Tex Mex, Cajun, etc. However, Burgers and fast food are standard everywhere throughout the states - hence Liberty Inn, such as it is.

Hmmm. That's an interesting perspective, but I bet folks from France would object to the characterization that the restaurants in France at Epcot reflect the breadth of French cuisine, from Normandy to Marsailles, from Alsace and Lorraine to the Pyrenees. Italy and China each have much broader sets of cuisines than is represented in the restaurants at Epcot, as do some of the other nations as well.

When Epcot first opened, there weren't the fast food venues in the countires that there are now. Really, back in the WS if you wanted fast, you had Liberty Inn.

Space may have been a consideration as well. The American Adventure takes up a lot of room, and with the size of the Liberty Inn (designed to fill the fast food needs of the entire WS), they may just not have had a spot.
