With the DDP adding all sorts of folks to the Disney dining arena, I'd have thought there might have been enough new business to have the place open 7 nights a week. But evidently not.
Every time we've been there (except last trip) the place has been relatively empty. It's probably not a good sign that a restaurant has to close 2 nights a week at WDW, and I was hoping to see business there pick up.

I was wondering about this, too. We're trying to pick a night during our October trip when we can finally make it over there, but they're not making it easy on us by being closed two out of seven nights.

It does seem odd.

I've wondered if the Grand Floridian is competing against itself here, what with Citricos, V&A's, Narcoosee's, 1900 Park Fair, and the Grand Floridian Cafe all vying for the table service dollar. Granted, these are all different kinds of venues, but I wonder if Citricos just gets lost in the shuffle, as the high-end alternative to those who can't or won't go with V&A's. I haven't tried Citricos since it was the old Flagler's. But their menu looks pretty terrific.

Sounds right, Dreamfinder. The Grand Floridian is the only resort offering so many dinner options.

Besides, unlike the other high-end restaurants on the monorail line, Citricos has no marketing hook: no view or coconut races, only superb service and a creative menu.

I really really enjoyed my meal at Citricos and hope it continues to stay around. We went about 2 years ago and it was packed plus a long wait even with a reservation but it was a weekend night and may have been a fluke.

I just ate there this past Saturday and it was FANTASTIC. It was soooo good and I'm happy to say, I think it's even BETTER than it was 2 years ago. We had a 5:40 ADR and it was quite empty when we were seated. By the time we left (shortly after 7:00 p.m.) it was full and people were waiting. I think it just attracts a later, more adult crowd.

We ate there for the first time last May and it was pretty busy. I think this was the middle of the week too so I was surprised.

The last several times we've gone it has been busy which was good to see.

is Citricos now open 7 days a week? We have an ADR for January 1, 2008 which happens to be a Tuesday. Is it open on Tuesdays all the time now or is it just open because it is New Years Day?

Just wondering?

21 more days!!!!

If I am not mistaken, I think Citricos is open daily for the holidays only to give guests more dining options, but feel free to correct me since I am not at work to verify this, LOL

Citricos has always been closed Mon & Tues. I think it is cost controls. Why have x number of restaurants open on any day, especially if they are dead. Many restaurants are closed 1 or 2 days a week to give people a day off and cut down on food spoilage. Even though WDW is always, open by closing Citricos twice a week they may save on food and labor. It may be less agravation on their part to have fewer staff and give them scheduled days off then to have more staff and not give them enough hours.

During the holidays the restaurants are open longer and more days in Citricos case due to the increased number of guests.

I still miss Flagers...but anyway

Citricos has always been closed Monday & Tuesday since 1997 (I think) when it opened except for holiday seasons.

I don't think its going anytime soon.

We ate there on a Monday night for dinner in September, but it was during the free DDP. I wouldn't be surprised if all the restaurants were operating on overtime during free DDP.

Boy, what an old thread!

Anyway, Citricos used to be open 7 days/wk. I think it was around 9/11 that it started the Tues-Sunday schedule.

It is no longer the secret it used to be though so I wonder if it will revert to all 7 days?

We had dinner there about six weeks ago and it was excellent. It was also very crowded and noisy.
