Wonder - Sept 27, 2015 - Oct 1, 2015: Vancouver to San Diego

I'm not going to lie, I've been stalking the cruise meet thread looking for this one. LOL.

I am actually torn between two cruises at the moment. This one and the 5 day Baja. We live in LA, so obviously SD is closer, but I think my bf is more interested in Canada than Mexico. DECISIONS!

It would be just me and my DBF and this would be our first Disney cruise!! I'm excited either way, but I just CANNOT decide!!

I was stalking too, just due to lack of time. We booked yesterday and plan to drive up to Disneyland after disembarking on the 1st. It's just my Dr and me. I was thinking of doing a B2B with the three day Baja, but haven't been to DL in eight years and we don't get to the west coast that often.

We'll also fly into Vancouver two days early. We discovered the city at the end of our Alaska cruise in June and fell in love. So we're thrilled to get another chance to visit again so soon.

We are making a TRIP out of this next Sept. Going to do B2B (4 then 3) and then go to Disney Land. We went to DL last August and it was horrible - so packed, and with a two year old it just wasn't very enjoyable.
My daughter will be starting 5th grade. I'm using the excuse that its right at the beginning of the school year and really shouldn't be too bad if she misses 7 days of school... that's ok, right? :)

I think we are moving to this cruise. I have never been to Canada and had to cancel my May Caribbean cruise so thinking I move it here. We would likely fly to Seattle. My sister should be living there then. Then train to Vancouver 1-2 days early. We are thinking of DL after the cruise, too. We will have annual passes we activate this December. Curious if Disney will run buses after these cruises to get people to extend their trips and hit the parks? Then we would fly back home from SNA. We would also be pulling our kids from school. 1 1/2 months into 4th and 2nd grades - not thinking it would be a huge deal?

:beach: I have added your thread to the cruise meet list pixiedust:
Have a great Cruise!

We booked today! We are also doing the Hawaii to Vancouver! Just my DH and I! It will be our first cruise without the kids!

We're also doing this as a B2B with the Hawaii to Vancouver cruise with DS, DIL, granddaughter, DH and In-laws! Should be a blast!

I had read reports on here of not being able to take those two B2B. Has that changed or need resolved?

Just a head's up here for those who are going to (or already have) booked this B2B, the Hawaii/Vancouver; Vancouver/San Diego B2B will violate the PVSA.

The similarity between these two cruises and the Seattle/Vancouver; Vancouver/Los Angeles cruises in 2012 is evident. And the PVSA does not allow transporting passengers from one US port to a different US port without a stop at a distant foreign port. Vancouver is not a distant foreign port. And, in the eyes of the PVSA, even though both cruises are booked separately (different reservation numbers) it's viewed as one continuous cruise Hawaii to San Diego - and, therefore, illegal.

I will point out that the 2012 cruisers on the September set of B2Bs were told 3 months out that they would have to cancel one or the other of their cruises.

Please be sure you have all your bases covered, if you wind up on the same situation. Travel insurance may be your best friend. Remember, many airline reservations can be non-refundable once purchased, and hotels, excursions, whatever, can be costly if you have to cancel them at the last minute, also.

Hey there..Just booked this to extend our current reservation. We are also booked on the Oct. 1, 2015 3 nighter out of San Diego. It is just my daughter, who will be 11, and I. First I had to talk her into missing a week of middle school. I'm still stressed about that, but I know we'll be fine. I'm a third grade teacher in a different school district than my daughter attends, and I have Sept 26-Oct 4 off for fall break. I know my years left of pulling her out are getting very limited, but I think we can handle a week of making up 6th grade work no problem. (At least, that's what I'm telling myself to justify this!)

Hi Alicia. We are also making this a b2b with the Oct. 1 cruise. Will your daughter be 9 on this cruise, or is she 9 now? I have a daughter, Mary-Grace, who is 10 now, 11 for the cruise. In the past she has been pen pal ( e mail) buddies with girls around her age that we've cruised with. She tends to be a bit shy, and it's nice for her to make connections before the cruise so she has a ready made friend. Let me know as it gets closer if your daughter might like to e mail with mine, seeing as we're all going to be on the ship for 7 days. (Maybe they can do their homework together!)

I just booked this cruise because we had some unexpected costs come up and couldn't manage the Sept 2014 one that we had booked last summer. We are disappointed to have to wait another year, but excited that we'll be in SoCal for mine and my hubby's birthdays next year!:cheer2:

Kaitlyn is 9 now and will be 10 for the cruise (will have just started 5th grade during the cruise). I'm sure she'd LOVE a pen pal. She is shy as well, so it'll be good to have someone she's talked with on the cruise. I can't quite PM yet with info, but I'll get there. I started a new account so I could have the username I should have used years ago. Boards won't let you change that, unfortunately. :(

Hi,

Can we be the first Aussie family to join in? This will be our first cruise ever and my children's first time travelling outside Australia/ Asia. We have absolutely no idea about anything either Disney or cruise related, but it sounds like fun to learn as we go. At the time of the cruise my daughter Kaitlyn will be 11 and my other daughter Eloise will have just turned 8. It will just be us 3 girls. I haven't told my kidlets yet as there will be a week of girlie screams. The cruise times in nicely for our Spring school holidays so they are unlikely to lose more than a couple of days of school. Not that we get too worried about that as we consider travelling to be an important part of education.

I'm curious to know what type of weather we could expect in your September. It's freezing here so I imagine it's the opposite there. Hope you don't mind the gate crash.

Kind regards....Kerrie

We did the San Diego to Vancouver this year. Though we would give the other way a shot.

Hi everybody. Just wanted to check in to say that we just booked our second DCL trip and we're super excited. I don't think we're going to tell the kids until we get really close but we know they loved cruising the first time around because they kept asking when we would go cruising again. This will be our first time to Vancouver and the kids' first time on a plane so I'm sure they'll be excited about that as well.

We booked through DCL because they sent us a 10% coupon and we were able to use it. Someone on another thread of mine mentioned that I can double dip and transfer our reservations to CostcoTravel and also get their cash card after the cruise. I will be doing this in the next week or so when I have some time.

We're planning on flying to Vancouver from San Diego on Wednesday so we'll be there for about 3.5 days prior to sailing. I think that should be plenty of time to enjoy Capilano Bridge, Grouse Mountain, Stanley Park, and just walking around downtown and Chinatown.

If anybody has any recommendations on dim sum, pho, sushi, and seafood places, I'd love to hear them. I've been reading that the chinese food, pho, and seafood/sushi is really fresh there so we really want to eat some good food.

Kids will be 8, 6, and almost 3. We're trying to figure out if we want to just buy a cheap umbrella stroller once we get to Vancouver for our little one or if we want to bring our own. We also plan on renting a car so we also need to figure out car seats. Should we rent from the car rental place or just bring our own? I guess we could get away with not using one for our 8 year old. The 6 year old could just use the boaster seat but dd(almost)3 will need a car seat and the one she'll be using at that time more than likely is her older brother's Britax Marathon and that's a big car seat to lug around.

Since you are going to be in Vancouver for a few days, I have a great recommendation for a place to stay. When we sailed from Anchorage last year, we stayed in Rosellen Suites, right near Stanley Park. The proprietors were great, the suites lovely and well priced. That area had a number of apartments that were converted to hotels for the Olympics and some never changed back. We plan ongoing back there.
