Wonder May 17, 2015 3 Night Mexican Riviera

Sadly, we will not be joining you all.

Eva, please, remove us from the roll call and FE. Thanks

Anni:)

So where have you all sailed to before with DCL? Our first cruise was last Sept on the Wonder, it was a 7 night cruise from Galveston. Beside this little getaway we are planing to do a Caribbean on the Fantasy, but I have to wait for the fall 2015 dates to open up to book. We are set up to go in Aug., but when I booked I didn't realize the kids would be missing the first 3 days of school so I want to change it. Plus I'm keeping my fingers crossed we can book a concierge room. Anyone here done concierge? Recommendations?

Seems like a whole bunch of us are aft on deck 6. We have the secret Veranda room 6634.

Cool! A friend of mine who just got off the Wonder had one of those rooms. She just started her TR today.

Our 1st cruise was on Wonder for the Pixar cruise October 2012. On this we stayed in a deluxe inside stateroom deck 2 aft starboard. We then went on Fantasy for the Western Caribbean itinerary. We stayed in category 8D (deluxe family stateroom w/o verandah) on deck 6 aft starboard.

For our cruise we are in category 5C deluxe ocean view stateroom with verandah deck 6 starboard.

Funny tidbit. I have very good sense of direction. Love to plan and study the different decks. But both times, I am soooo lost!!! On Fantasy I was with my DS with his stroller. We were going to meet DH and DD at the Buena Vista Theater to meet our excursion's group for the Grand Cayman tender. Oh my goodness!!! So to make things easier, I can only book starboard.

I would love to book concierge. Someday...I'll dream about it in the meantime. We r doing the B2B and when we check in I will see about upgrading. Just worried whether or not they'd be able to have the stateroom for the 2nd leg. Also about notifying everyone in the DISmeets group & FE group.

Most likely will keep what we have to save & for a future cruise. With new OBB rules of limit 18 months, I'm hoping we could afford to go on another cruise and book while onboard. :)

Yes, I really enjoyed the starboard side as well. I remember the first 2 days on the Wonder we had no idea if we were going the right way or not. Lol. But by day 3 we got it! I loved the Wonder it's a great size, I'm a little intimidated by how big the fantasy is. I'm sure it's great fun though, the fantasy. Yes, I wouldn't see myself always being able to do concierge bc of the price but with the time of the year and booking on opening day I'm thinking it won't be too much more than what the price is for the August cruise we signed up for. Fingers crossed!

I really hope they open up the dates a lot sooner than they have so far especially with the 18month period of travel time.

We did a cruise to Nassau and CC back in 2001
In 2012 we did the Mexican Riviera to Puerto Vallarta and Cabo, both were on the Wonder.
We took the Magic out of Galveston to Grand Cayman and Cozumel last year.
We still have a sailing on the Wonder again to Grand Cayman and Cozumel this Fall
A month before our Cruise out of San Diego we are taking our first trip on the Dream back to Nassau and CC.

How was the Mexican Riviera cruise? I hope they do them again. It's definitely closer to us, so that's a plus. I bet the Dream will be exciting for you guys first time on the big ship. When we went to CC on our cruise I signed us up for the package w/sting rays, inner-tube, bikes and snorkel gear that by the time we got done the kids area was closing so me and DH didn't get a chance to go to serenity bay.

Lol.

They stopped the Mexican Riviera Cruises because Mexico has become too dangerous for Disney. We don't have kids so when we finally get back to Castaway Cay we are going to enjoy it as much as possible.

The Extreme Getaway Package! That's what we did, too, and loved it. Especially the sting rays. I thought I would be afraid, but they are amazing!

Yes, it was a lot of fun. I thought DD would be afraid to feed the sting rays, but she did great. Even when we where out swimming with them she was having a blast!

Question about DISmeets...do we meet as a group the first day to mingle? On our last cruise, we didn't get to meet our group because it ended up being the location of the DVC presentation. We didn't receive any update as to location changes. We only got to meet a group of 3.

Is the location an agreed upon space that DCL allows as a meeting place? Or is it just a location that the group agrees to meet at? Just afraid that the same will happen and we will all miss each other!

We've always done it in the Promenade Lounge. It's open to all ages, very large space and not normally scheduled for presentations unless the ship is at sea. It's usually at 3PM because most everyone has boarded and just waiting for the safety drill. By 2PM you can dump your carry ons in your stateroom, so it a good time for free time on the ship.

Awesome! Thanks for the info!

On our cruise we met at by the ice cream area on the Wonder so the kids could have ice cream while the adults introduced ourselves. I thought that was a good location. It was at 3pm on the first day of the cruise. 30 mins before the muster drill. We just meet their I don't believe anyone requested the area with DCL.

I like that the Promenade Lounge is so large. I also like the idea of meeting on deck where the kids can he preoccupied. Can't remember...that's by Goofy's Galley starboard side?

Maybe over time people can make suggestions about meeting places. Then Evasue can make the ultimate decision and let us know.

Either location sounds good to me. ;)

My only question would be how do we tell the DISers from the many throngs of people at the pool, and is there adequate seating that is not too spread out? I know when we have me at the Promenade, the DIS group folks were practically the only ones there.
