Wonder in Alaska!!! May 27, 2013

I'd like more information on the Alaskan Brewery/ Is it in one of the ports?

Also wondering about Seattle & beyond, especially the Olympic Peninsula. We will fly in on Sat., most likely take Amtrak to Vancouver. After the cruise, we then plan on exploring Olympic National Park. We were in Seattle over 10 years ago w/out kids, but headed south to the Red Woods. Any suggestions?

Happy Birthday Beth!

I'm not sure how far south you are planning on going, but if you are anywhere nearby, check out Crater Lake. It is one of the most majestic places I have ever seen!

Do we port in Tracy Arm? When I go to the DCL website it says there are no activities available on that day.

No we do not port in Tracy Arm. We drive in very slowly to witness the glacier and the calfing of the ice. Bring warm clothes if you are going to be out on deck for several hours. Some folks watch from inside but most folks go outside where it will be cold and windy.

Hi! We were on the Inaugural 2011 Alaska cruise! The Tracy Arm fjord is 1200 feet deep. At the end of the Tracy Arm fjord are the twin Sawyer Glaciers. They are made of glowing blue ice. Tracy Arm fjord is 45 miles south of Juneau and is home to mountain goats, whales, bear and birds. Harbor seals come in the summer to have their pups. The Wonder comes in and everyone runs to the side of the boat to get a better view, but then the ship turns and the folks on the other side of the ship have the same awesome view!! No you wont port there, but have your camera ready for the amazing scenery! Oh yes, Mickey and Minnie in their parkas out on Deck along with Donald and Koda and Kenai to be in your candid family shots! Can't wait!!! Aloha, Karen and Ron:thumbsup2

I just signed my DH up for the Champagne Girls Event. If we get enough people without him, he will bow out. But he's never been one to turn down a tasting event. We attend wine tastings every Friday.

Tomorrow is my birthday. We're going to our regular wine tasting followed by dinner at the restaurant attached to the wine shop. Been regulars there for about 10 years. It's a very neighborly place. We call it our "Cheers".

I will be wearing my tiara and drinking my signature cocktail, the Bethmopolitan, my version of the Cosmopolitan, which is very popular at the restaurant. It has been on the menu for 5 years. So at 6:30 p.m. Mountain Time, raise a glass and celebrate with me! party:

Happy Birthday, Beth! :cheer2: Mine's on Wednesday and I'll be in the Happiest Place on Earth to celebrate, Walt Disney World. It can't come soon enough.

Hi. ABC is located in Juneau. There is a store for all their goodies sans beer in the downtown area, called the DEPOT. Then their brewery with beer and tours is about 6 miles away. There is a shuttle from downtown for about $15 roundtrip. Here's the website link: http://www.alaskanbeer.com/

I believe in Skagway there is also a brewery.

When we were last in Ketchikan (13 years ago) there was a brewery, but I've heard it closed, so I'm not totally sure about there.

I hope this helps.

I have a question about Seattle.... is it worth is to do dinner in the Space Needle??

I wouldn't know. I have never eaten there. The only thing I know is that you should not put your purse on the ledge as when the restaurant rotates, the purse does not rotate with you.

I have gone to the Space Needle several times with school groups and had some munchies at the snack area there. Still overpriced, but a lot less expensive.

We love Olympic National Park.

I'm not sure what you are asking so not sure how to answer

Thank you for the Wonders' Berth information. Very helpful!

You're welcome!! I find it really interesting! I wish the Wonder didn't have to berth at the ADJ dock in Juneau. It's furthest away and you take a shuttle to get back to the ship.

Thanks for the information, my dad will be traveling with us and he enjoys a good beer. It will be his first cruise and he's hesitant. I'm pretty sure he'll enjoy the fishing too.

Hi,
Has the Pirate Night been replaced with Pixar? I've seen it mentioned a few times and am curious!

Yes. Myself and others have called DCL and they confirmed this with us. Instead of Pirate Night on Friday, it's now the Pixar Party. It will be inside in the Atrium.

Have your dad check out the beer mug deal on the cruise. On two past cruises we participated. You purchase a glass mug four around $15. You then get 16 oz of beer for the price of 12 or some deal like that. It pays for itself pretty quick. There are different beers around the ship. My DH says to visit all the bars to figure where your favorite beer is. When you are done with a beer you either keep your mug or trade it in for a coin to use the next time you get a beer. It does not work at dinner, only at bars. I can't remember if he took the beer into dinner.

That is good information for us, thank you! Do you keep the glass mug with you then, or is that just for that visit?

Sorry, I just re-read and see that you already answered that question. =(
