Wonder getting REPO'ed to Vancouver!: May 20th, 2013 Official Thread!

Definitely on my own. I have heard the prices that DCL charges for this are totally over the top. We will probably do laundry the last night of this cruise or during the sail away party of the Alaska cruise.

Corinna

I hadn't thought of doing it the last night, thanks for that suggestion.

We're looking at a way of getting to the museum ourselves, just haven't looked into it too much.

CM at the family museum said that it is best to take a taxi from the pier. The closest bus stop is over a mile away. She also said they can arrange a taxi for your return back to the pier bc taxis don't frequent that area.

Hi, we're getting a little late start on this cruise meet. Wondered if there's a Facebook group? Is there a FE group ? We are doing the BTB to Alaska
Please add us to the group. Pam disboard disneynanny, and DH Frank.

Welcome.
Yes there are FB pages and FE's set up for both cruises. There are several of us that are doing the B2B.

Hey maybe we can all share a cab ride to the museum. I want to go by myself as I'm the big Disney fan in the family. If I go on my own I can spend more time there. :goodvibes

With the restaurant, what type of price range are you looking at? That will determine some recommendations, as pretty much everything by the pier is expensive, almost irregardless of the quality. If you have time to go a little away from the pier, you will have more options. Slanted Door is a very popular spot, great food.

Nothing too expensive. Just want to try some SF local food. :goodvibes

Grab a loaf of Boudin's sourdough bread and some Ghirardelli chocolate and you'll be all set. :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Original's Joes would be a good suggestion if you like Italian. They have recently changed locations, but they have been around forever and very SF. http://originaljoessf.com/about/
Portions are huge and not too expensive.

If you don't have kids and want to go see the old days of the 1960s-1970s scene, then going out to Haight Ashbury would bring you to a great find, Cha Cha Chas. http://www.yelp.com/biz/cha-cha-cha-san-francisco-4
Great food, get a pitcher of Sangria and enjoy the scene. You can go with kids, just be forewarn that walking down the street you will smell lots of well, non-kid like smoke.

And anything seafood by the wharf is great, but can be expensive. Except Boudin - that is usually pretty reasonable.

For those going to Disney Museum, I'd suggest doing the taxi, or arranging for private transport to and back. It really is in the middle of Presido, long walk anywhere. I guess for me, I'd pay the extra to arrange the transportation as I don't like waiting around for a taxi. They can call, but you will have to wait. Personally, I'd arrange for a private pick up at the pier, have them take you to the Museum. And then arrange a time for how long you want to be there for them to pick you up, and then be sure to drive down the crookest street on your way back. Also spend some time in Union Square. It is great square for people watching, lots of window shopping, and plenty of restaurants there as well.

Is anyone else staying overnight in Vancouver after the cruise? I am looking for good deal on hotel stay.

We got a great rate on the Sheraton near the airport on Priceline.
You can also check the Vancouver info thread for hotels suggestions.

Depends on where you would like to stay and the price you would like to pay.

We spend a lot of time in Vancouver Hotels. The Fairmonts are pricey but well located. There's the Sheraton Wall Centre mid to pricey, Hyatt also mid to pricey. There are quite a few hotels by the airport but they are about 30 minutes from downtown via skytrain.
Then you have quite a few downtown that are less expensive but not in the greatest area-
There is a Listel on Robson near Stanley Park that seems like a good price on expedia today.

We stayed at the Sheraton Wall Center 2 years ago, got that one on Priceline for a good deal. Nice place and a good location.

And they some times offer a decently priced package that includes parking and breakfast.................

Here is an update for the Fish Extender Exchange. We now have 13 families taking part in the Fish Extender Exchange consisting of 27 adults (18 women and 9 men) and 13 kids (8 girls and 5 boys). The ages of the girls are 17, 5, 4, 5, 9, 3, 3 and 4 and the ages of the boys are 7, 13, 11, 3 and 6. One of the new adults that have joined us is 19 so bear this in mind if you want to give an alcoholic gift.

Thanks Corinna! Will you be able to list the participants' names or is that a privacy issue. I was thinking of doing something that is personalized.
