We have our fourth DCL cruise booked for Jan 2018. The first three were on the Fantasy and this cruise is booked on the Wonder. We have a 20% off voucher from our Jan 2016 Fantasy cruise. I am tempted to plus the cruise by booking concierge.

Have done club level at the resorts and dessert parties in the park. Most of these have been a major disappointment because of my son's food allergies. Every time I book, I am told that they absolutely accommodate the dietary restrictions with allergies safe option. Most of the time not the case.

Anyone with experience eating in the concierge lounge with food allergies, and is it worth the upcharge.

There are mostly just snacks in the lounge, it's not meals. I would for sure not book concierge for the lounge food. Just curious why you got a 20% discount on your previous cruise? I didn't know they did such a thing.

As said above, it's not really meals, just small appetizer/hors d'oeuvres type plates. The 20% off voucher intrigues me, what did you get it for? I'd read the fine print or call DCL directly about it cause I doubt you can apply it for Concierge rooms. They normally don't ever do any sort of promotions for DCL Concierge rooms.

Thank you for your thoughts on the food. I guess then my question would be is concierge worth it in general?

The 20% off voucher was due to the Fantasy having engine problems In January 2016 and we had to skip Castaway Cay in order to make it back to Port in time. I am already booked into a 5A and considering concierge.

You might want to call DCL to see if you can use the 20% on a Concierge stateroom.

We find that concierge might not be worth it if you look at one single item.................but when you look at everything you get, we think it is worth it.

1. Concierge lounge access for snacks, drinks and usually a nice quiet area to hang out or visit with others
2. Free cocktails, beer and wine in the evenings
3. Priority check in area, concierge waiting area and boarding
4. Kids club check in while in the lounge on boarding day and spa bookings
5. Free mickey rice krispie bars and popcorn for the movies
6. Priority booking of cabanas on CC, excursions, spa treatments, etc. at 125 days out before the cruise
7. They can book your princess meets, bibbity bobbity boutique, Palo, Remy, etc
8. You can select all of your Shutters photos there and they will have the jump drive delivered to the lounge for pick up.
9. Private sundeck and hot tub area to hang out on while on board the ship.
10. Limited edition lithograph at the conclusion of your cruise.
11. Priority debarkation
12. Mystery character meet in the lounge area.
13. Premium coffee machine to use throughout the cruise.
14. They can print your bill, print replacement keys and perform all other guest services functions in the lounge
15. Additional free Wifi
16. Can eat dinner from the dining rooms in your own room (just not Cat V rooms)
17. They always seem to do something that makes our cruise special for our 3 year old DD.

@Trera Awesome synopsis! Thank you.

your welcome. I am sure there is something I missed that others can chime in about.

Oh, yeah...............there is a pillow menu that you can select from different types of pillows.

I'll add that the new lounge on the wonder is literally wonderful. Best one out of the four at this point.

We did let them know of my wife's allergies and they went over what is good to eat and what is not. We also ended up with extra treats in our room that my wife was able to eat.

We did not have a good food allergy experience on our Wonder cruise in 2015. We were only dealing with an egg allergy...

@MunFam I am sorry to read about your experience. Was your bad allergian experience in the concierge loung, or in general? I would appreciate if you would share the details.

Agreed. The Wonder lounge is the best in my opinion. The magic lounge is similar but not nearly as big. Dream and Fantasy are nice but you don't have a view to the outside like you do on the other two. Dream and Fantasy are nice because all the concierge rooms are all close by.

It was in general. When I got back and did more research about "how great DCL is with food allergies" it appeared that most of the good experiences were on the dream class ships because they have a dedicated kitchen. Only once in 15 days on board was a "special dessert" delivered to our daughter and it was not requested at that time. We were sitting out on deck one day and the head guy brought it over to her. They served her unsafe food twice...and once served her moldy mac and cheese (from a box that had soured).

I also think it's likely that the Dream class ships handle allergies better. My son has to be gluten free, & they accommodated his needs much better on the Fantasy than on the Magic.

I was just on the Magic 2/22 and and gluten-free and had ZERO issues.

Concierge on the Wonder is 100% worth it. The new lounge is awesome. As far as dietary restrictions....I would assume if you asked, they could produce what you needed.
