In case you missed the planning report...

Me (36) and mom (72), travelling with my friend from work and his 3 (now 2 ) friends. Three night Wonder cruise, then 6 nights at WDW. First Disney cruise for all...

Thursday, May 10

Up at 7:00 and on to breakfast at Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom. Since we were only 5 minutes away, we were there right before it opened. I saw the area set up with the DCL stuff and wondered what was going on. Thanks to a post on this board, I now know that these were people who were spending the morning at AK and then heading on to the Wonder cruise...the 3 night like we were on last week. Lucky dogs!

We got seated and ordered. Unfortunately, the menu is really limited, and they had nothing mom could eat (everything had eggs, which she is allergic too). They said they had cold cereals, but it was Frosted Flakes and Fruit Loops. Mom is not a big eater, so toast and a bowl of normal cereal would have been fine, but they don't even have toast. The server seemed very unconcerned that there was nothing mom could eat, but finally suggested an English muffin (which they must have had because of the Eggs Benedict) and a side of potatoes. I had the Eggs Benedict and a mixed juice drink. Orange juice was $4.00 a glass! My mixed juice drink (I think it was called a Rainforest Ricky) was $4.00 also, but I figured it's a little more complicated than orange juice. Yikes. The EB were okay, but all in all this would not be a place we would eat breakfast at again.

Got a bus to MGM. The bus driver was very friendly, and was telling me how I should move down there, cause the houses are so reasonable, etc. Don't temp me! Very nice guy, and we chatted all the way to MGM (there were only 4 people on the bus). Got there a little after 9:00...no crowds again today.

Walked right into the Little Mermaid show. This is one of my favorites. I have to say though, this Ariel's voice was weak. Headed down the street to Millionaire. This is so much fun! Kevin was our host, and WOW is he handsome! We had a very difficult fastest finger question, and a little 10 year old got it by just random guessing in like 2 seconds. He had a very hard time though, and used all his lifelines on the first 3 questions. When we ran out of lifelines, he lost.

Then, a woman got up. I'm sorry, but she was very stupid! She bombed out on the $200 question. Then, her husband got up. What are the chances? Does this family just sit around at home pushing keypads all day? He did better, like $64,000. Another girl got up, but they ran out of time so she was coming back for the next show.

Went on Star Tours (one of mom's favorites), then she sat with a drink while I saw the Drew Carey sound show. Kind of cute. Mom wanted to see Beauty and the Beast, so while she did that I rode Rock'n'Roller coaster (front seat) and Tower twice. I told you, I love these!

Had subs for lunch at Min and Bills Dockside diner. I got a slush from the slush stand to go with it. Yummy. It was a nice lunch, and the weather was perfect for eating outside. We did the Great Movie Ride (western side). I think Disney really needs to update this with some new scenes. Kind of dated.

Saw a really cool t-shirt at the main store. The outline of Tigger, in puffy orange panit, and Walt Disney World written on it. They had it in blue, black, and grey. Also has Mickey in black puffy paint on red and grey. They were only $23, and the cutest t-shirts I'd seen the whole trip. I got a blue Tigger and a red Mickey (I later took back the $42 AKL shirt I bought). They had just come in, cause all the CMs at the registers were admiring them. Good timing. Also got a Pooh and a Tigger dangler for the car windows.

On the bus back, mom and I decided MGM is our favorite park. We love the atmosphere, and they have 3 of my favorite attractions (TOT, R'n'R, Millionaire). Mom likes it for the shows and Star Tours, and just that it's a smaller, more managable park. Sorry EPCOT (old favorite).

Got back around 3:00, and of course the maid was in the room (this happened about 3 times during our stay). This was the only annoyance at AKL. We told the maid on the first day that we were early risers and usually come back in the early afternoon for a break. Today was even late for us. I guess we should have always put up the "please make up room" sign, but I thought she got the messsage (and we tipped her everyday). We grabbed our mugs and sat at the outside tables at Mara with our sodas (and some soft serve ice cream). This is such a nice area to relax at. When we got back to the room, the maid was done. I skipped the pool today (not enough time), and actually napped for about an hour. Felt refreshed...

Left for the Magic Kingdom around 5:30. When we got in, people were already sitting on Main Street waiting for the 9:00 Spectromagic parade! I like the parade and all, but an hour wait is my limit. Anyway, the place was so crowded you couldn't even walk down Main Street. We looked in the shops a bit. Couldn't even do a last spin on Buzz for mom! Mom sat and people watched on a bench at the round park near the railroad station, and I walked around a bit. There was even a line to do TTA! Got a shaved ice at Schuttle's landing (and saw that there was an hour wait to meet Ariel!). Took it back through the castle, and shared it with mom on the bench. Yikes!

Checked in a few minutes early at Tony's. I was worried, cause there were people and kids all over the place (you had to walk over them...they were watching the tv), and people were complaining that they had waited an hour! However, we waited about 10 minutes (love PS). We were seated in the atrium this time, and dinner was excellent. We split a HUGE anti-pasta salad, and I had delicious Chicken Scallopini with pasta. Mom had spaghetti and meatballs...she loves basic food! The bread (with dipping sauce) was excellent. Even the iced tea tasted wonderful for some reason. This is now our new favorite restaurant (after this and breakfast on Tuesday).

Went on the proch and got a pretty good parade spot (mom even got a rocking chair). Two of the boys (the other was having problems with his foot and stayed back at Old Key West...this was his first ailment of the trip) met us at 8:00, and we chatted about what we'd all done since we saw them at AK yesterday. Originally, they were gonna stay for the parade and then had 10:00 Californis Grill PS, but they left around 8:30 and were just gonna go back to the room and all get a pizza.

We talked with a nice family from Wales who were on "holiday" for 2 weeks. Love their accents. You seem to meet the nicest people from that part of the world...

The parade was good, but seemed shorter to me. Wasn't there always an eagle at the end? Oh well, we left after the parade (decided to skip the fireworks) and were on a bus in minutes. Got back to AKL about 10:00, drinks, brownie (paw print brownie...yum), showered etc. Bed by 11:30.

Tomorrow...EPCOT (last day)...

Wow, $4 orange juice??....That's crazy!!...Sounds like breakfast at Rainforest Cafe is totally skippable...I also had Kevin as a host for Millionaire...He is the most "gameshow-y" guy I've ever seen!...How charming is he?....We also saw him as stage manager once (not as charming)...Hate waiting for parades too...I think those people are insane who wait for hours on Main Street...Totally *not* worth it!

Great trip report. Too bad it was so crowed at MK. I believe the eagle is at th end of MSEP not Spectromagic;)
