Wonder 4 Night April 23rd 2006

Were all meeting by the Mickey Pool at 3pm
I think the list so far is
Conny + Silke
Marv + family
Kimielee + family
Sharon + family of 25
nixieh + family
Conny said that will give us all enough time before the safety drill...i think we have to go on this drill ime not sure but conny has been on the cruise before she'll know.

Hey the list is looking good we could have a party :rotfl2:
Were all blonde haired and from Somerset in the United Kingdom but ill just ask when i get there "are you from the Dis " untill i have found you all.
See you there
Marv

Thanks for the info about meeting at the Mickey Pool at 3:00 p.m. I will be there. I imagine my grandchildren will be in the pool.

Here is a basic idea of what we look like. I will only describe my 10 immediate family members because I have never seen some of my great-nieces and great-nephews who are going.

I have two son-in-laws who are big guys. They are both over 300 pounds and are dark skinned (one is Indian and one is Mexican). Their wives are nothing out of the ordinary - one has long, kinky long blonde hair and the other has medium long brown hair and is 4'7" (she looks like a kid - she isn't much bigger than her daughter - she is 30 and her daughter is 9). My grandkids look like all the rest of the kids in this world. My son and I are both slender. I am 5'0" tall and have long brown hair.

Have you been in touch with anyone else who is gong - besides Kimmielee? I connected once with Kimmie where we introduced ourselves online to each other.

We'll see you at the pool at 3:00 p.m. Gosh, I just can't wait! (I'm far worse than any kid would be when it comes to waiting.)

Yeh we have just been keeping in contact through this post have a look through it and you may get an idea who we all are and where were all from.
My Dh 47 is a stocky blonde hair, ime not as slim as ide like too be 36yr old :rotfl2: with curly shoulder length hair,
My twins are 12 girl has long curly blonde hair and boy allways short strawberry blonde hair.
My 14 yr old is tall and long blonde hair and can sometimes smile :rotfl:

Sounds like your as excited as me :Pinkbounc

Marv

Ok, Noah is 6 but looks like he's 8 pirate: . He's tall and chunky and looks just like his momma! He comes up to my chest and I'm only 5'5"!!

Mommy is 44, definately wishes for the body of my youth :p ....and I have big brown eyes and long brown hair... which, most likely will be up if it's warm on the day we leave!

I have NO idea what either of us will be wearing yet... but as it gets closer, I'll post!

Do we want to exchange post cards from our respective towns? That would be awesome for Noah to take back to his Kindergarten class to show how many different people he met! :thumbsup2

I went on a cruise last year in March - not DCL and Noah stayed behind with family. My girlfriend - no... not THAT kind of "girlfriend" - not sure why I felt the need to explain that... but anyway... we chatted on cruisecritic.com with a bunch of friendly folks from all over.

One of them, a single guy that was a firefighter from Boston :firefight was delightfully funny and charming and... well, you get the idea. My friend and I were practically drooling over the possibilities and what he looked like, etc... (Kimmie wasn't dating her current beau then...)

We were all at our "meeting place" except for him. Every hunky guy that walked by, we'd ask... "Are you Frank?"... and the guy would laugh and say "No".

Then we thought to ask all the not so hunky guys... and they laughed too... it really was a game.

Later, we bumped into him in the piano bar where all the cruise critic buddies were sitting and he was NOTHING like we pictured, but still as adorable and funny... just about 5'3"!!!

Moral of the story... dangerous to have preconceived notions about what others look like because we never live up to it!!! :rotfl:

So, picture me as the woman who would NEVER dare to wear a bikini but is comfortable in her body anyway!! :cloud9:

Sharon,

Since Noah is 6, he'll be in the same club as your 5 year old GC!!

We aren't doing much on the excursion side... we have 8 days at WDW (5 before and 3 after) and as much as I'd LOVE to do the dolphins I'm afraid it would freak him out and we'd waste some big $$$$! :guilty:

I did reserve the water stuff, floats, etc on CC and do plan on putting Noah in the club there for a short while during the hottest part of the day so I can get a massage! :cloud9:

Nassau - if it were another time of year and not Spring Break for so many schools, I would have rented a day room at Atlantis or Comfort Suites but I've heard when it's busy the lines for the slides could be up to an hour wait. No way for the little guy. :sad2:

Funny you say that your SIL's are afraid of heights. My boyfriend is 6'10" and he is scared to death of high places! How does THAT happen??? :lmao:

I think it's awesome how your family is getting together. My Dad lives in KY and I have two brothers that are still alive... and one of them won't come down there for just a long weekend during Easter and it's only an 8 hour drive! I'd love to plan a reunion... kudos for you for pulling it off!

We are flying in on the 18th in the early a.m. and not leaving until the morning of the 30th. It's our longest vacation ever... hopefully the best too! :woohoo:

Hi everybody.
Just back from a short working trip to spain and got a small taste of better weather.Over here it is still very cold. Will there ever be spring?I´m in serious need of Florida sun.

Conny - a work trip to Spain? Oh my... how awesome! My company only has offices in the U.S. so I'm stuck here for work! I manage mortgage underwriters. We do residential loans for a large bank.

What do you do, if I may ask? If that's too personal... I understand! :goodvibes

I have been reading disboards.com for about a month now and have become so much more educated about the cruise than I was before. (I knew NOTHING before reading disboards.com.) It has helped me tremendously.

Only recently have I met up (online) with Kimmie and now you. I'm happy to have found someone to talk to about the cruise. All my grandchildren live in Texas and I live in Oklahoma so I have no one here to share the excitement with.

This will truly be exciting for me my kids and grandkids as none of them have been anywhere in their lifetime. (I think one of my granddaughters went to WDW once.) Most of my immediate family of 10 people have not even flown before. I'm worried about seasickness for them all (and who knows, maybe me too). I bought Dramamine and Bonnie. Do you know if a person needs to take them routinely (like once each day) or does a person just take one of the pills when they feel seasick? Both of my son-in-laws are afraid of water and one of them is afraid to fly too. This is quite a challenge for both of them and I admire them for going despite their fears.

I forgot to tell you that I plan on wearing blue jeans and a bright orange t-shirt. I'm wearing the t-shirt so my kids/grandkids can spot me when we meet up (either in Houston where I have a layover or Florida).

I truly understand what you mean by your 6 yo looking like he's 8. I did a semester of student teaching in the elementary school and found a whole lot of the students to be bigger than I am. I am only 5'0" and weigh 100 pounds so it doesn't take much to be bigger than I. Still, the elementary school kids are big nowadays. After that semester, I decided not to teach in elementary school because the students were bigger than I and I had a hard time keeping them under control. I think my petite-ness made them think I was a friend, not a teacher. The teachers at the school frequently told me to "get in line with the other students." Then they quickly apologized and said they thought I was a student.

Anyway, I thought I would let you know that I plan on wearing a bright orange t-shirt and blue jeans. I hope my orange t-shirt helps my children and grandchildren to spot me in the crowd at the airport.

Hi
I myself am fearful af flying...its the taking off for me, i end up in tears...but once ime up ime okish
We take Sealegs for sea sickness and we take one a day...well its just DH and DD tht takes them. We ahve been on ferrys and ships that take us too France and Ireland and there a lot smaller than the Wonder...i have been told that sea sickness is not such a big problem on the wonder as its so big. Ishall take them anyway...just to be on the safe side.
Well not long now and were all here so you can share your excitment with us all.
Have you booked any excursions yet? Ime so looking forward to this trip... were in a villa for 20 days before the cruise...only trouble is ill have to pack againwhen over there for the cruise..but we have a washing machine so this will make it easiere and ill try to this over the 20 days so ime not left with the packing to do in a day.
what kind of clothes have you got for the restaurants at night??..We have got are cruise wear over here and are taking this with us...Just Trousers, shirts, dressy blouses and black pants.. I think its nice to dress up a bit in the restaurants..i know its not required to wareformal dress but its nice to get dressed up will make the meal a bit more special. I have packed one pair of small healed shoes as ime not good on high heals if the ship rocks a little ill end up flat on my back :rotfl2:

Have a good day

Marv :wave2:

Hi everone.
Today finally some sunshine,at last.!!!!!

Meeting at 3 gives us a good half hour and I´m pretty sure we´ll be able to find each other. On our last cruise our group was about 50-60 People and we had a blast.
Can´t wait.

See you soon
Conny :wave2: :wave2:

I have not heard of Sealegs (for sea sickness) but I am new to all the sea sick stuff. I think I will call my doctor to get the patch, and I think I'll insist that my two big son-in-laws take the pills each day. I wonder if they might need to take more than one pill because they are both really big guys (over 300 pounds each, size 3X). What do you think? I will not worry about the kids. I talked online with my daughter in Texas and she does not think she will get sea sick. I haven't talked about it with my daughter in Oklahoma yet.

I just canot wait to meet you!

Within the next week, I plan to make reservations for my two daughters (ages 30 and 24) and all my grandchildren (ages 3, 5, 9 and 9) to participate in the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau - Blue Lagoon. One of my daughters may upgrade to do the Doplphin Swim once we get there. How old is your daughter? Would she like to join my children? (I also have two of nieces (ages about 10 and 12, I think) who have reservations for the Dolphin Encounter, but they want to do the Dolphin Swim. If my nieces can upgrade to the Swim, then my daughter will too.

I plan on parasailing in Nassau. I do not know if anyone in my family will be joining me - maybe my son will. I do not know what my two son-in-laws plan to do for the 'special excrusion.'

It sounds like you will have a lot of packing and repacking to do. We are just doing the cruise. The only way we are affording to take the cruise is because my mother passed away about a year ago and we are using our inheritance money to pay for everyone to do.

I plan on wearing a black pair of jeans to dinner each night. I will probably take a couple of fairly nice shirts to wear with them. I am not too keen on dressing up just for dinner (but I agree that it is nice to dress up every once in a while). I am more of a layed back (outdoor camping) kind of person. Putting my black jeans on is dressing up for me. My Oklahoma daughter and her husband want to do to Palo's one night but they do not have a suit or dressy dress. They do not want to have to pay for nice clothes that they may only wear once in their lifetime. Trust me, I mean we are really layed back kind of people and we don't do nice things like this cruise. That's one reason this is a real treat for all of us.

I will probably wear my white flip-flop sandals with my jeans. You said you might end up flat on your back if you wore heels and the ship rocks - well, if I put in a pair of heels, the ship wouldn't have to rock for me to fall flat on my face. I always wear flat shoes - like tennis shoes.

I must go work on the pictures for the front of the scrapbooks I am making for my grandchildren. This is a lot of fun preparing for the trip. I'm so excited!

Were going to look around the port at Nassau and visit the pirate museum and then back to the ship to make the most of the money we have spent on the cruise.

I bet your mother would be really happy that you are spending the money she gave you to have a cruise with all your family...what brilliant memorys you will all have especially as this is a holiday of a life time for you all.

This will be the same for us as living in the UK we proberly wont do this again so every minute will count...feel really blessed that we are all going.
Agree about the clothes..waste of money if you never have to wear them again...ime glad its not formal as i dont do long dresses and that really would be a waste of money for us as i would never wear a gown here in the UK

Your brave to do parasailing ime not sure wether i could cope with the height...hope you have fun

See you soon

Marv  :cheer2: :Pinkbounc

Hey everyone

I got seasick on our last cruise.Higher waves because of a thunderstorm passing through the day before.Thank God for "Bonine",got them a day before we left at Goodings Supermarket.Didn´t make me sleepy and worked well.

And Sharon,I´m not a big fan of dress-up,so I´ll go with a pair of black trouser and some tops, too.on the 4-night,there is no real formal night like on the 7-night cruises. So,I guess we´re fine.

Take care

If your Cruisedocuments don´t arrive in time, just do the onlie Check-in,it´s very easy and with that completed, they will let on board no matter what.
3 more weeks to go for us and no documents here as well.

We are looking forward to meet everyone on the 23.April.

Hi Marv

I got an email from our DU travel agent to say that Disney are sending our tickets ove the next few days by overnight courier so hopefully we will get them before we leave (Sat 8th), if not apparently I can pick them up at the port but I have already registered online too.

Have a wonderful 3 weeks before the cruise, I am looking forward to meeting everyone, whereabouts are we meeting again?? I am worried that I will be so excited about being on board that I will forget...

Hope everyone else is enjoying the planning/packing etc, we are in the same boat as you Marv as we have 2.5 weeks before the cruise, we are staying a few days at the Poly, a week in a villa and the two nights before the cruise we are staying at the Hard Rock Hotel. The best thing is, our DDs don't even know we are going on holiday yet! We are going to suprise them on the day we leave for Gatwick, then we are going to tell them we are staying 2 weeks and on the day of the cruise pretend to drive to the airport but in reality will drive to Port Canaveral and suprise them by telling them we are going on the Wonder...hopefully they will be thrilled.

I too am worried about sea sickness and have today bought some Stugeron 15 which I have been recommended.

Look forward to meeting you all soon if I don't have time to post again..
