Wonder 4/4/2013 4 day Bahamas

just changed my dummy cruise to this one. Taking my cousin who is a hard working teacher for her bday. And i never pass up an oppertunity to cruise with Disney. This will be my 5th cruise with disney. We sail with and without our children it is so much fun. Hope all you first timers have a great time.:smickey:

I decided two weeks ago we were going on a cruise! What was I thinking...I now feel like I am playing catch up with trying to figure out everything. I am the never ending planner....:rolleyes2 It will be myself, Husband, Daughter 15, Son 14, Grand Daughter 4 and my Mom. My Mom and Daughter have been on a Disney Cruise before and loved it. The rest of us have never cruised. I am looking forward to the trip but a little concerned about myself, I have a tendency to be sea:sick:, ugh, everyone tells me the ship is a lot different than being out in the ocean fishing on a small in comparison boat...we will see. Anyway I was just looking around the boards and found this link. Glad to be here and wishing everyone happy sailing.:)

Anyone know much about the FT Lauderdale area? We will be flying in on 4/3 to FLL and staying ?somewhere?, not sure if I want to stay around the airport or somewhere closer to the port. Any thoughts? As I said the planner in me wants this all done now. Want to arrange transportation but can't until I figure out where we are staying.

We are staying in Miami since that is where the ship leaves out of. I haven't seen much posted here about Miami hotels, etc. If you want to stay in FL, just do a search here for "Fort Lauderdale hotels" and I'm sure a bunch will pop up. I know several have said there are ones with free breakfast, etc, but I'm doubting you'll find any hotels in FL that offer a shuttle to Miami Port.

Hello all! We are just back from a week on the Fantasy, and now looking forward to our cruise with you on the Wonder. We will be cruising without kids for the second straight time, and we have really enjoyed organizing a dining group for other adults to join us. We did this on the Dream (3 night) and Fantasy (7 night) and it was a lot of fun.

We got to know each other before the cruise, and we are all now Facebook friends. We often gathered for a drink before dinner, and enjoyed the adult cabaret shows after dinner. We kept seeing each other all over the ship, and it really made our experience special both times. We hear from all of our new friends that they were really glad we got together.

HOW IT WORKS: It is very simple. We let DCL know that we would like to have our reservations linked for dining. They will make sure we are seated together in the main dining rooms. We have had tables of 12 and 10, and could go as high as 14.

IMPORTANT: This is for the late (second) seating around 8:15pm. If you would like to join our group, you would need to have late seating as well. This is usually easier than getting the early (first) seating.

If you think you might be interested in joining us, please send me a private message and I will make all of the arrangements.

Hi,

We are excited to join the discussion board! This will be our first cruise with our boys :) SO FUN! Please let me know the secrets of cruising with kids.
Have a great day! :cool1::cool1:

DVCNuts-what a fun idea! I'm with my kiddos and my in laws this time, so I won't be linking reservations, but have fun!
mkoontz-The link at the beginning of the thread will be the master list. PLEASE print it before you leave. I'll try to pm people who don't have their room numbers on there a week or so before departure to be sure everyone has everyone's room numbers, etc. Anyone who is waiting for a room assignment, PLEASE put that in the chart so we know we are waiting on DCL for you. I'll go update my room number as I know it now. If there is anyone who still doesn't have their room assignment until they get to port, PLEASE stop by my room and I'll have a whiteboard on my door--please put your last name and "Please find us in room XXXX" so others can make note and deliver your items.

Hello all! I have had this cruise booked for some time, but we are never sure if it will change, so I hate going to a meet thread then have to leave it. Anyhow, we are definitely going!:cool1:

It will be myself - Caroline, my DH - Ibrahim, DD14 - Amanda, and DD10 - Dina. (My oldest DD is now in college, can't come, and is very sad )

DH's brother and his family will also be going and it will be their first cruise. They have 4 DDs ranging in age from 17 months to 9.

This will also be their first Disney anything and I am so excited to be able to share in their experience. It is so awesome to see little ones meet the characters for the first time and mine are more than over it for the most part, especially with youngest being more of a tom-boy and loves Peter Pan much more than any princess! :scratchin

Myself and DDs will be taking the Auto-train down and driving back, as I do not fly. The rest will be flying. I am frantically trying to figure out where to stay and how to get to the port, etc.

So where is everyone from? We are from New Jersey, all the way at the bottom!

Lexi-this IS the cruise meet thread-where you get to know people on your cruise:thumbsup2
Cabana-just search the main board. They are on Castaway Cay.
FE gift exchange-the sign up is in my first post on this thread. You can search FE or fish extender. Basically you make a little mailbox called a fish extender-can be as easy as a plastic bag to gather things or an elaborate one that you can see pics of here. Each cabin makes/buys small(or large-there is no limit-this is FUN)gifts for each person and/or cabin. There are tons of ideas of gifts on the main page. As simple as postcards to elaborate scrapbooks. You'll get the names and cabin numbers of all involved and you deliver the gifts at your discretion.

Thank you!

I was hoping for a less than full ship, so I won't cry if there aren't a lot of people! More chance of me getting a cabana and Palo reservations(not holding my breath on the cabana since it is our first cruise, but I can dream, right?)
Are you doing any excursions? I think we are going to splurge and do the Dolphin Swim.

What night are you doing palo? Did you get a cabana?

Bahacca when will you close the FE so we know how many to buy for?

I'm from Southern California, 15 minutes East of Disneyland.
Lexi-I plan to close the FE about 2 weeks prior to sailing. I'm working on items now and will make a few extra. I don't feel badly about some people getting different things/non-personalized if they join late, so I'm not stressing it. I personally cannot have people join way last minute because I'm planning on shipping my items to our hotel ahead of time. I also don't want to stress anyone else out. If someone needs additional time, then by all means, simply put on your name on the spreadsheet "Can only do gifts with people who sign up prior to XXXX date." Then people who join after that date will know not to buy/make gifts for you. I have no idea if this is common practice, but it makes sense to me.:thumbsup2
We are going to Palo Night 2. We did not get a cabana, but I'll check every so often if there is a cancellation. I know there is no shortage of stuff to do on the island, so I'm not stressing it.
pyramid-we are huge SNL fans, so everytime I read New Jersey, I hear it in my head as Fred Amison saying it.LOL
If you guys haven't already, please join the facebook page listed in the first post. It isn't just for people who want to eat together. It's a friendly place for us to all get to know each other, including pics, so we'll see familiar faces while on board:-)

Hi all. This will be our second cruise with Disney. However, I don't remember seeing FE when we were there (2004). How many are in this group? I still have to talk to my husband about joining. But, this sounds like a lot of fun!

Skittles-click on the link on the first page of this thread. I think so far there are 4 families signed up. I think there are more people who plan to do the FE and just haven't put their info on the spreadsheet as of yet. I see more traffic here than in the past few months, so I think planning is finally starting to happen for some. My guess(based on NOTHING other then how quickly new people post here) is that we'll wind up around 10-15 families at the most. Of course, now that i've written that, it will wind up like 100.:lmao:
Please also join our facebook page. The link is on that same first post of this thread.
