We woke up to beautifully calm seas and sunny skies as we were getting close to Nassau. We watched the ship dock, DH ran upstairs to grab cereals, bagels, coffee etc. for breakfast in the room. We were docked in between a huge Carnival ship and one of the Regal Empress ships. We had already decided to stay onboard for the day, having already been to Nassau and not really impressed with the island. DD 12 and DS 8 decided to do a few of the kids club activities, while DS 15 decided to hang out with us. He had no interest in going to Aloft; even to check it out. Oh well. We went up to the Goofy Pool and basically spent the day there. The kids came and went to the activities, arcade and exploring. DH and I even managed some time over at the Quiet Cove Pool (what a wonderful area of the ship this is!!) using the hot tub and pool. DH went for a run on Deck 4 around 3 pm. Around 4 pm Hook showed up at the Goofy Pool for some photo ops and autographs, then Pluto came around for the same. It was really quiet onboard and we enjoyed the day immensely. We headed down to our room to get ready for the evening; I of course headed to Deck 7 for some more fun ironing. Another line to iron. Very funny. We decided to skip the show before dinner (magician??) and sat on the verandah for a while with a glass of wine. We met up with our friends again at the Promenade Lounge before dinner at Animator's Palate. Our friends had their Palo reservations this evening, and we offered to take their 2 kids to dinner with us (we all had the same table, as we had requested) The kids had a blast at AP. I loved the restaurant and the way the colors changed. Servers were fanatastic again. The food was ok; probably my least favorite meal; not bad, but ok. After dinner, DS 15 took our friends kids back to their suite to babysit until they got home (they had a Cat. 3 and let me tell you - it was absolutely incredible) We were supposed to meet them out at Route 66 after their dinner but I was so tired I begged off and went to bed!! DS 15 came back to the stateroom around 10:30, we hung out for a while and then we all went to sleep. I was awakened around 12:30 by DS 15 heading to the bathroom, and then I heard him getting sick. Uh oh. He seemed perfectly fine during dinner. No one else was sick. The seas were calm. The thoughts that ran through my head. When he went back to bed he said he went to bed feeling perfectly fine, he woke up knowing he had to vomit. He got back up one more time and was sick again, then slept all night and woke up fine. Hungry even. He did have a seafood appetizer at AP that maybe was the culprit. It's the only thing that the rest of us did not have. Don't flame me, but I did not report his illness for fear they would quarantine him for the rest of the cruise. If he had continued to be ill after that night, I definitely would have but he was fine that morning and fine for the rest of the vacation. No one else became ill either. I do think it was a case of food poisoning. Anyway, the rest of the night was uneventful and we woke up to the Wonder pulling into Castaway Cay. Pictures simply do not do it justice. Very lush and tropical. We disembarked the ship at about 9 am and headed to the far end of the Family Beach, near the Lifeguard Stand. DD 12 headed to do the Lab activities and we laid out for a while. It was a bit breezy during the morning with sun and clouds, but warm. The water was chilly!! I took DS 8 over to the Dig Exploration Site and he loved it. We went back to the beach and sunned for a bit, then it was time for lunch. Had a great lunch at Cookies BBQ- DS 8 wanted to go to the Grouper Game Pavilion with his kids group, so DS 15 brought him over there. I met up with DD 12 to go to our Parasailing appointment at 2pm. I had been a bit nervous about it but was looking forward to it. DD was not nervous at all. They had cancelled some of the morning appts. due to the wind but by 2 pm it had calmed down alot. We walked (a long walk!) over to Marge's Barges to sign in. When I had scheduled the excursion 60 days out, all the literature stated that there would be a 45 minute "class" and then a 5 - 7 minute Parasail. There was no class. Now I really was nervous. There were 3 men on the little parasail boat. When got on the boat, they asked if we were going separately or together, I told them Disney said we had to go together because DD wasn't 13 yet. They said we could do whatever we want. Okay? Well, I said we were going together. So they start preparing the sail and they give us lifejackets and they start heading out to the open waters beyond the Wonder. They were CRUISING right along, radio playing loud, I'm thinking this is kind of funny but not really. The boat is really moving and we are hanging on for dear life. DD is laughing at me and telling me to chill out. Ok, I try to chill out, wondering when are we getting our lesson? So they slow the boat down and motion for us to get on the back of the boat so they can hook up up into the equipment. I then ask "Uh, don't we get a lesson?" They all laugh at me and ask "What for???" And I say, "Uhhh, I've never done this and I'm a bit frightened!!" They laugh again and just say "Don't worry!!! It's fun!!" They then hook us up and tell us not to touch the metal hook. Oh, also, stand up when you land on the boat. That's it. That's the "class" So I figure I'm being a big baby and bite the bullet and up we go. And up and up and up and it's incredibly beautiful and silent up there and my DD is loving it. We are passing the disposable camera back and forth to take pictures of the island, the ship, the teeny tiny boat that we were just on. And so forth. It was a blast and I did not have anything to be afraid of but I'm old now and get afraid of silly things. :sad2: After about 5 minutes they started slowing reeling us back in and then I notice we are really close to the water and they dunk us!!! ha ha ha very funny, our bottoms get wet and we laugh like crazy as they put us back up again for a minute before reel us back into land on the boat. Piece of cake!! :teeth: I had given my digital camera to one of the guys on the boat and he took about 8 pictures of us- a great one of us with the Wonder in the background, and a funny one when they dunked us. After it was all over I realized I would definetly do this again. Great. We head back to the beach, collect the rest of the family, buy some souviners and head back to the Wonder around 4:30. Great great day, our favorite. We all showered and got ready for the Golden Mickeys and dinner. Tonight was Pirate Night, and we had Parrot Cay for our dining rotation. DH and I were going to Palo for dinner, and the kids were going to PC with our friends. Golden Mickeys was wonderful, our favorite show of the cruise. We had great front row seats (thanks Pam!!) and the show was awesome. After the show we headed up to Diversions for a drink and they had a sports trivia contest. Our table lost but they gave the kids some DCL pins. A lot of fun, and Diversions is very classy. We dropped the kids off at PC and headed up to Palo, where we had a great dinner and wonderful service. Top notch. We went down to the Cadillac Lounge for an after dinner drink and wandered around the ship for a while, checked out the deserted secret deck on deck 7 and enjoyed the evening. We got in around midnight; everyone was already asleep and we weren't far behind them....................
More to come!!

Loved reading your report. Can't wait to read more. I had to laugh about the parasailing - sounds like a blast but I'm a huge chicken! Please post the pics!

I loved your report!!!! I was laughing through the parasailing. I want to parasail and so does my daughter, she is 9. I think I would be like you though and be a bit nervous. I just dont want the line to break and me do a free fall into the ocean!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Can't wait to hear how it all ends! Great report! Thanks!

I was FINALLY able to make some reservations tonight. I booked myself on the parasailing for 1:00. I was afraid I wouldn't make it on time for the 9:00, and then they skipped 10 and 11...with 12 noon for the 2nd slot. Maybe 10 and 11 are already booked up? We'll just plan to have lunch as soon as they start serving (and I won't eat but a teeny bit to tide me over).

We were on the same cruise. We actually looked for a fam of 5. I was able to catch up with "cathie", "bbgallini", and "salbythec". We were on deck 10 - midship. Actually had our table changed to sit with "salbythec". We were in the TAPP rotation also. What table were you? (We were table 28)

Sorry you opted to miss Michael Harrison's show. It was rather funny. My DH, who is a big critic of comedians, actually thought the guy was very funny. :rotfl: And it was a family oriented show. Very nice. Maybe on your next trip, if he is there, you will stop to see him.
